This is my first time on this site, but I was involved in a support group when I lived in AZ about 4 years ago.

For anyone reading this, I am just wondering if there is anyone out there who has suffered from Lupus Cerebritis and if so, did you have any mental changes that occured such as memory loss and mood swings, i.e. bipolar disorder or depresssion???

I am not sure what to talk about when I see my doctors and I notice that I feel like I am trapped inside my head sometimes. It's like I'm having discussions or rather arguments with myself about the people around me ... weird, I know.

Anyway, I'm not sure what is going on and Im just trying to see if it's anything more or less than the diagnosis I've already been given.

Thanks to anyone who replies. Gratefully yours, Jamie

Hi Jamie and welcome to our group. Depression is certainly part of lupus, as is memory problems. I would recommend being up front with your doctor and telling them what is going on. The people here are great, I hope you visit often.

I can relate to a lot of what you are saying. I also have mood swings and voices. I sent you a message. If you would like to talk about it that would be great!

I was diagnosed as bipolar about 4 or 5 years ago. And now I have been diagnosed with Lupus as well. But now the Drs don't think that I am bipolar. However, I do have depression & am having trouble with my memory. I talked to my DR and was told that it went along with Lupus, which, with my research that I have done, that is what I have found, too. They also said the med I was on would help that in time. It is a very frustrating disease. My granny has had it for the last 30 years so I have been around it my whole life. Best of luck. Smile

Hi Jamie welcome to this great support site....I know with Lupus Cerebritis the symptoms can cause hallucinations and migraines and symptoms that are like bipolar. I am sorry you are suffering with this illness. You need to tell the doctors exactly how you feel and what you feel....I wish you all the best and please let us know the outcome of this visit.

Hi Jamie and Welcome. I think people with chronic illness in general have issues with depression. I have anxiety also that comes when I worry to much about things. Please let us know how this works out.
