Hello,

I am the daughter of a Mom who has been dealing with lupus for 30 years now. Her doctor can generally medicate her to treat the flare-ups, however, for a month now she has been suffering with very painful and swollen lips, with blisters. Has anyone else who has lupus experienced this symptom? Or know of someone who has? Any help you could offer is grately appreciated. Thank you.

Stacy

YES!!! My blisters aren't on my lips, but in my nose! It is terrible! Everytime I have a flare-up, my nose gets blisters and it's very hard to get them to go away. I use a steroid spray (I guess she could use a steroid ointment for the lips), some cortaid, and clindamycin (or any other antibiotic ointment would probably work) You just have to keep putting stuff on it and try not to touch it. Mine usually takes a few weeks before it will go away. Good Luck though!

Are the sores that you get in your mouth blisters to or different? I had a negative ANA but keep getting this sore inside on my gums, it's got stuff in it but not really like a blister and it doesn't hurt. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Sometimes it's hard to walk, talk, or even know what tomorrow brings. But as long as I have a smile on my face I can give a little bit of sunshine!

I get blisters/lesions in my nose also. But it doesn't seem to coordinate with flares at all-just pops up here and there...?? Lupus is wierd!!

I usually just leave them alone and they eventually go away by themselves. One time they were really bad and I cleaned them with a Q-tip with a mild face cleaser (I forget what its called) and then put a mild cortisone cream on after.

I use Zovirax for fever blisters. It is a RX so you would have to get a prescription. But it's good stuff. You can also try Abreva which is over the counter but it takes longer. For me, about 7 days. However, the blister in the nose....that sucks. I am not are if either of these can be put into nasal passages. Ask you doctor or pharmacist. You could also ask about some topical lidocane. It is a numbing agent. Good Luck!!!
