For the last several weeks I've had problems with late night coughing. It doesn't continue. It's actually quite sporadic with a little blood accompanying the cough. I've experienced shortness of breath when walking across my classroom or to the main office. I've had problems of this nature before several years ago but it was much worse. Should I be alarmed?

Hi,

Sounds like you are a teacher too. I would say that any cough that produces blood should be immediately checked out. When I am in a flare, I have trouble with my chest feeling raw and having an odd cough. Good luck and best wishes.

With peace and Hope,

Beth

Asthma is another fun thing I have "picked up" since I've begun this lupus journey. I'm not sure where you live but my asthma (wheezing, coughing etc.) seems to get worse as the heaters start turning on. It also seems to get worse at night...especially when I lay down so most of the winter months (and since I live in Colorado...its most of the year) I end up propped up by tons of pillows so I am sitting up more than lying down. I haven't, however, had any blood with my cough and that might get me to make an appointment with my doc. I hope you are feeling better now though!

Kaitlan
