MDJunction to me

"I have been struggling with Fibromyalgia, Bipolar, Anxiety, Post traumatic Syndrome for quite some time and pretty much going it alone. I stumbled across MDJunction by accident. I stayed in the shadows and just watched for four days and then I joined, feeling relieved and excited to have found a safe place with alot of folks that I could relate to . It's proove to be medically and emotionally
helpful to me and now I can't go a day without coming in at least 4 or five times a day! I Love my family here.

My new rheumatologist wants to start me on Imuran for the lupus panniculitis. I have not started it because I have read online about it, and it can interact with one of my existing meds. Just wondering if anyone out here knows anyone that is on it or has taken it? Please let me know.

I haven't taken this. But, I do take some meds that can supposedly interact with each other. Maybe call your pharmacist and ask his/her opinion on your drug combination. And remember, everyone's body is different. Drug combinations affect everyone differently.

I guess what I'm trying to say is to be willing to try things. Be careful and cautious. But, sometimes doctors do know what's best.

Let us know what you end up doing and how you get along.

The interaction was higher risk of developing cancer from the drug with my blood pressure med. Imuran alone can cause tumors. I dont think im gonna take that risk. But thank u for ur input.

Youza! I'm with you on that one and don't think I'd start it either.

You should call the rheumy's office and get back in to see him/her. Or at least talk with the nurse there. Let them know that you've decided not to take that drug, and why. They need to know these things so they can figure out what to do next.

If you're like most of us, you wait several months before returning to their office. And in this situation, you probably shouldn't wait that long.

Let us know what happens with all this. And we'll be thinking about ya!

Wow!! I am taking imuran 150 mgs. every day. That worries about this medication. I should probably discuss this with my rheumatologist when I see her on October 21st.

Ive decided to go back to the original rheumatologist that i started with, rather than this new one. The plaquinil doesnt seem to be doing anything for me.

Besides taking imuran I also take 2 mgs. of Prednisone and getting off 3,000 mgs. of cellcept and lyrica 75mgs. three times a day. When I was first diagnosed with lupus they tried me on plaquinil but ended up in the ER I couldn't breathe and I had hives all over my body so I was allergic to the medication. I also have to be careful because anything with asprin I can't take because of the brain hemorrhages. I will definitely talk to my doctor about imuran and the risks of cancer.
