I think that I am having some ocular problems as a result of a flare up. Has anyone had something happen with their eyes? (Fuzzy vision to where you can't drive, swelling of the upper and lower lids, oozing, etc.) I never had problems like this but now. . . . does this mean that the Lupus has started effecting my eyes?

I get ocular migraines but always assumed it was due to my APS. That means I just get to see the pretty lights. But it sounds like you should go see an eye doctor. I hope things clear up for you soon

Definitely get an eye exam with an ophthalmologist. I have lupus and work in ophthalmology and there can be a few things going on. First, if you take or have taken steroids; ie: prednisone/cortef/etc, it can cause early cataracts. Also, you could have swelling in the back of the eye or severe dry eyes/etc due to lupus. It may be just something temporary, but you should have it checked to be sure.

Definitely see an ophthamologist- right away!

It could be lupus, side effects from medication, a separate condition, or a combo. Won't know until you have some testing done.

I take Plaquenil and see an opthamologist every 6 months. The opthamologist is a MD and its covered under my medical insurance not vision.

Keep us posted

Thank you all! I have been trying for months to see someone about my flare ups and the increasing problems I am having but as no one is willing or able to help me, I have to deal with this on my own. Hopefully something will change soon.

What about your regular physician? Can you at least see him/her "soon"?! They should be able to help figure out what's going on. And if not, they could at least get you headed in the right direction for help- AND schedule the appointments for you. Them calling specialists will get you in a lot sooner. --- We're all worried about you. Are you still experiencing these Ocular Difficulties?

Are you having other symptoms in addition to your ocular symptoms? I don't want to lead you with questions as there are so many other symptoms that are like lupus. In addition to lupus, make sure you don't have another autoimmune process going on.

Peace out.

Well, I have been having multiple symptoms for a few months now. Other than the problems with my eyes, the swelling, difficulty seeing and lid edema, I am in pretty much constant pain but that's normal as I have Fibromyalgia as well, but my joints, I am weak most days, drained of energy everyday, I can't exercise because of the pain. . . I am having some neurological problems. I can't remember things 2 minutes after doing them and am having some trouble expressing my thoughts even with my speech sometimes. I get bad headaches and even migrains every day, and I work in an office on a computer and now the computer screen gives me bad headaches after not too long. I have been trying to get help. I have a son that is now going to be 7 months and there's days I can't hold him. I am trying really hard to get help but so far it have come up with nothing. I have not been able to see a doctor of any sort for at least 5 or 6 months and it was not for the Lupus. I have a Rheumatologist that I was seeing but was put on a PRN basis when I was pregnant and I have not been able to go back since I can't pay the medical bills without insurance. I have been struggling with this and I know that I need to be seen as I am getting increasingly worse. My employer lowered my hours at work today so that I can try to qualify for Medicaid. We'll see what happens.
