Can Lupus cause your muscles to spasm and cramp uncontrollably? I don't know exactly how to explain it. This has never happened before and I think that I am having a flare up but I don't know if this is part of it. The muscles in my forearm twitch so bad and make my hand shake. Only one arm though. This has not happened to the other so far. I was just curious if this is just part of the Lupus or if it's something different.

It may be part of the lupus. I wasn't sure if it was from my lupus or fibromyalgia but I used to get bad spasms in my face more than anywhere. I thought I had a brain tumor or something! When they changed my meds to Cymbalta (for the fibro), the twitching stopped. I haven't had them for quite a while now

I too thought my muscle spasms were cause by the Fibro. I'm not really sure though. It's a good question to ask your doctor. If it's really bothersome, it wouldn't hurt to just call his/her office and talk with the nurse about it. They might prescribe a muscle relaxant.

Let us know in a couple of days how the spasms are doing. Mine vary in degrees of.... yeah, the throbbing and pain.

Well, I can't go to the doctor. I haven't had insurance for a while now and they say I don't qualify for Medicaid. They tell me that the only option I have is to apply for disability, which I don't want to do.
