I have trouble with swelling too. My legs, ankles, and wrists. I don't have any suggestions though. Except- are they cold and achy? Sometimes, warm water helps the pain. It doesn't help the swelling though.

Yes, I too had the swelling in my arms/hands, legs/feet. I had always thought it was because I was fat, but my rheumy laughed at me and said it was the Lupus. I had a lot of issues with back pain before I learned about the Lupus and had been taking Lodine, which is an anti-inflammatory. I take it when I'm in a lot of pain or the swelling is bad and it helps. It helps more than taking an NSAID like Advil, etc. If you can get the inflamation down, the pain gets better too. Something to maybe ask your doctor about. Hope you get to feeling better.

I swell horribly. Lasix and other diuretics haven't worked for me.

The only thing that helps is to drink a lot of water and exercise. At times tho, my feet hurt so much I can barely walk.

My doctors think the swelling is related to my digestive system involvement. I have gastroparesis (my stomach doesn't empty properly) among other things.

I also take pain meds which can cause swelling also.

Try to watch your sodium intake. Really look at labels. There are huge amounts of sodium in most packaged foods.

I'm having the same problem. They (MDs) tell me its because of the steroids. I hope that it is all it is, I take Lasix as well. Hope you feel better soon.

I don't take steroids on a routine basis. I do take opioids and that can cause swelling. But before I did, I had swelling problems also. So who knows.

I also have swelling but its right below my knee. I showed my rheumy doctor and she said get this "its a fat pocket" I told her that it hurt and it wasn't a fat pocket. I also noticed that when the nerves in my back hurt the knee swells and hurts as well so I think that its connected. When I told my doctor this she said that the nerves wouldn't make below the knee swell and hurt but I truly believe that its connected because when the nerves in my back aren't hurting as bad the knee isn't as swollen. I also exercise every day for 35 minutes on my "Gazelle Power Plus" and it still hurts and its still swollen and my feet start to hurt but thats because I have central nervous system lupus and it affects all the nerves in my body. Lupus is very strange. So I guess I will never figure out why the knee on my right side swells below the knee cap.

I just today actually noticed some puffiness under both knee caps. it is only slight but not something i noticed before. there was a slight achiness that came and went and a feeling of discomfort the whole time. other than that i later got the warm feeling that went from my knees up into my thighs. could it be fluid or swelling or what? any suggestions?

I've been trying to figure this out for a long time. In my case I think its the nerves that are making my knees swell. At times it gets pretty puffy. I just chalk it up to lupus.

I have noticed when I go out in the heat even the heat from the shower or am on my feet alot my feet and hands tend to get slightly puffy..idk if thats anything or if its irrelevant but the walking on my feet all day usually makes my leg pain flare up as well. Any thoughts? *hugs to all* -Brit
