Have you tried the American Red Cross, they help people in need of meds and so forth. If they have the funds available they can help. Also there are churches that help people find the medical help they need.

Thanks for the response. I have tried several churches in the area my only problem is it is just me. If you dont have any dependants no one wants to help you. I have tried to get help with housing and food and no luck.

When I was waiting for SSDI it was hard. I ended up going to a low-income clinic. The ended up charging me very little and they were very helpful it helping me get assistance for my meds. A lot of pharmacies have $4 medication now. I know Walmart does and so does Target. I am sure there are others. I know it is very hard, and I wish I could be of more help but to be honest I ended up homeless while waiting for SSDI and it wasn't any fun.

Here are some places that help with the expense of prescriptions:

When I type in prescription help in the 'search' at the top of this site- I found the following:

www.freemedicinerevolution.com

www.myrxadvocate.com

www.scbn.org

Then, I remembered that people had talked about help in another group I'm in. Here's some information I learned from that group.

(PAP) Resource Center - Comprehensive information site concerning patient assistance programs and the use of these programs to increase medication access.

Benefits Check Up - Provides individuals 55 and over with a confidential personalized report of public and private programs that can help save money on prescription drugs.

Disability Resources.org Prescription Drug Resources -

FreeDrugCard.us - Sponsored by a non-profit organization to help all Americans cut their prescription drug costs. Simply download your FREE Prescription Drug Card and receive savings of up to 75% at more than 50,000 national and regional pharmacies. This Prescription Card is not Insurance, is pre-activated and can be used immediately.

Helping Patients - Interactive website designed to help providers/patients find patient assistance programs

Medicare Prescription Drug Info Search - Allows you to search for programs (both private and government) based on where you live

Medication Foundation - Information clearinghouse for low cost and no cost prescription drug programs.

Medicine for Free - NOTE: This site charges a $9.99 subscription fee

Needymeds.com - Organization which helps patients learn about patient assistance programs. THEY CAN NOT ANSWER CALLS CONCERNING INDIVIDUAL REQUESTS FOR ASSISTANCE, they can provide information only. They are not a provider.

Pfizer Sharecard - Pfizer Sharecard is especially beneficial for Medicare recipients and provides Pfizer Pharmaceuticals at a greatly reduced rate. Take the qualification test to see if you can benefit.

PharmacyChecker.com - Compare prescription drug prices for more than 1,000 medications.

PHRMA/Pharmaceutical Research and Mfgs. of America - Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, a detailed listing of programs and contacts.

QDrug.com - Info on state and federal funded prescription programs

RX Assist - Searchable database by company, brand name, generic name and drug class which includes eligibility and application instructions.

RX Hope - The only patient assistance Internet initiative financially supported by PhRMA (Pharmaceutical and Research Manufacturers of America) and participating pharmaceutical companies.

ScriptSave - The ScriptSave card offers prescription drug savings for the entire household, as well as free access to health and wellness information.

Medicine Program.com - An organization which assists patients, with help from the physicians, to enroll in patient assistance programs.

Medical Discounts International Inc -

AAA Prescription Savings Program - Free with AAA membership. Save average of 20% on prescriptions. No deductables or co-pays. Simply present your AAA Prescription Savings card at a participating pharmacy for the discount.

BenefitsCheckUpRX -

PPA/Partnership for Prescription Assistance - Brings together America’s pharmaceutical companies, doctors, patient advocacy organizations and civic groups to help low-income, uninsured patients get free or nearly free brand-name medicines.

Hopefully, this is of help to you. Maybe to some others too that might need assistance.

I do have insurance, and although I can't imagine "not" having it. I've still managed to have almost $5,000 of out-of-pocket medical expenses. (I'm scheduled to have an MRI tonight. So, be thinking of me. I told my daughter, there's nothing wrong. It's just another freakin bill. Those things are extremely costly. I've had one once before.)

Anyway, good luck. I really, really hope someone on this list can and will help you.

you can go to your local social services dept and apply for low income health insurance. in my state(new york) i was approved for free health insurance for my health problems had to pay no moey for doc visits or my prescriptions. when i got married i was lucky to have insurance from my husband now. but you should look into that. it might be worth it for you.

I had to go to the ER last night because I thought I was having a heart attack. It wasnt but I have fluid around my heart, lungs and kidneys. I sat there for 11 hours before someone saw me. (thats because I have no insurance) Do you ever feel like just giving up? Are you ever tired of fighting day after day just to survive? Sometimes I just dont want to fight anymore. I am tired of not being able to work all day, not being able to sleep, taken all the pills. Sorry for the pitty party it is just a very BAD day.
