"I have been struggling with Fibromyalgia, Bipolar, Anxiety, Post traumatic Syndrome for quite some time and pretty much going it alone. I stumbled across MDJunction by accident. I stayed in the shadows and just watched for four days and then I joined, feeling relieved and excited to have found a safe place with alot of folks that I could relate to . It's proove to be medically and emotionally
helpful to me and now I can't go a day without coming in at least 4 or five times a day! I Love my family here.

Hello everyone.

I have been diagnosed with FM for almost three years now. Upon a recent appointment with my PCP, a UA revealed that I had some protein spillage in my urine. The doctor said that this could be a lupus symptom, and given my current state of FM that between the protein and my kidney levels, it was very possible I had lupus. Well, the Kidney doctor and my Rheumy both said the same thing. But when my Rheumy does the blood test, its negative for lupus.

Has anyone else had an experience like this? Or is it possible to be positive or Lupus but have the blood tests read negative?

Thanks in advance!

My doctor told me that Lupus is very hard to show up in blood test. They look for other things in the test to guide them toward a diagnoses of Lupus. Like your WB counts and RB counts.

My blood test came up negative but the biopsy is positive for Lupus. Plus the arthritis came back positive, they also said they could see that blood counts showed my body was trying to fight off an infection of some sort. So with that they dianosed me with Lupus. I was told that when someone develops the rash than usually within a year or two they will develop the SLE.

I hope this helps.
