MDJunction to me

"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

You can have a false 'negative' ANA. Doesn't happen very often though.

I've not heard of Malar Lupus. I've heard of Malar Rashes and then there's Discoid Lupus, which would be along the same line.

Did they do a skin biopsy of the rash? Lots of doctors will do that to verify whether it's really Lupus. And it can help them determine if it's something else.

I guess, if they didn't. I'd probably want them to. I wouldn't want to be on all the harsh meds that come with Lupus. If, it was a different type of rash.

Keep us informed on how you're doing.

I am also ana negative but I haven't had that test done in about l0 years and at that time I wasn't experiencing all the symptoms that I have now. When I was first diagnosed I just had discoid lupus. I had the malar rash on my face and the discoid rash on my arms and chest. I still get the malar rash and sometimes the discoid rash but I also now have "lupus vasculitis". So like Amy said they should probably do a skin biopsy on you. Was this specialist a rheumatologist? Thats who you should probably contact. Good luck.
