Okay, so I get these sores in my mouth and on the inside part of my lips and my doctor told me that it's due to the Lupus. I get them every now and then and I was wondering if you can pass them to others. As it is, I am very careful and when I know I have one, I refrain from kissing my boyfriend but can I pass them to him for real or am I being paranoid?

You might want to ask the doctor about the spreading of mouth sores. I thought we could pass them, but I'm not sure. Maybe even, just give the doctor's office a call and talk to the nurse. She could tell you.

Did they give you any spray or anything for them?

When I'm in a bad flare I get mouth sores especially on the roof of my mouth. The doctor is always asking if I have mouth sores but she really never told me what to do about them. I should ask her the next time I see her. Maybe you will have answers before I see her next month.

I have no insurance and so I can't see my doctor. I can't get any help so I am just dealing, as I am having flare ups these days and can't do anything about it but deal as best I can. Before I had my son, and before I lost my insurance, when I'd see the doctor, she never gave me anything for them and never really explained them. I didn't worry too much since at the times I was getting them, I wasn't seeing anyone. Now that I am, it has caused me to question this.

Maybe you can gargle with epson salt and warm water. That might help the mouth sores. I will be praying for you as I am having terrible pain but I'm on medicine so I don't know what it would be like without any. Its hard but we just keep on going. You take care of yourself.

The sores in your mouth are most likely canker sores. I've had them off and on my whole life. Do your sores look like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aphthous_ulcer

The last one I had was so painful it made me look like I had a fat lip The best treatment is something you can buy at your local drug store. I get it here in Canada, it's called: Fletcher's Liquid Sore Mouth Medicine. I swear by it. If you have trouble finding it let me know. I would have no trouble sending you a bottle. It lasts for quite a while, depending of course how often you suffer.

And the important thing, they are not contagious.

Best of Luck,

Jessika

I use the powdered version of Alum that you can buy at any grocery store. If you put the powder on the sore and leave it and do that 2 or 3 times a day, they go away pretty quickly. It leaves a bitter after taste, but I think it's worth it. Also if you take folic acid daily it helps prevent them. Hope this helps!
