MDJunction to me

aTinaL"To me, Mdjunction comes down to motivation. The support and information I have found here motivated me to take a very proactive stance regarding my illness. This led me to find medication and doctors that are giving me my life back.
More important than even the motivation, though, is the friendship I have found at MDJ. I have made some of the best friends of my entire life right here in this group. Even though most of us have never met, it feels as if we have known each other for years.
If Angels walk among us, and I believe that they do, most of them are here at MDJ.

Hi Everyone,

My mom was recently diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer that had spread to her lungs. While they were able to remove the colon tumor, the lung tumor is large and lodged near her heart. For that reason, doctors are afraid to operate on it.

They were trying heavy chemotherapy on her to see if they could shrink the tumor enough to be able to operate on it, but mom has had horrible reactions to the chemo, and is now in intensive care with a severely compromised immune system.

It seems the chemo will not be an option for her, so were wondering if there are any other options or treatments that we might be able to try instead. She's a truly wonderful woman who spent the majority of her life helping everyone she possibly could, often to her own detriment, but that was just her. She couldn't pass by someone in need without trying to do something.

As such, it's time for the people she helped so much over the years to now help her. We're doing everything we can to find options that at least provide her with a quality of life.

Please let me know if there are any alternative treatments or options we may not be aware of that might be worth looking into.

Thanks in advance and God bless you all –

Have the doctors said anything about radiation treatments?
Migraine headaches since age 11, arthritis and bulging disks in the c3-c7 area of my neck, scar tissue on my left foot that keeps me from doing anything involving being on my feet for long. Depression since about the age of 18, anxiety and anxiety attacks. Sleep apnea (I use my Bipap religiously)I still have daytime sleepiness occasionally......

I have lung cancer stage 3 with a tumor removed along with my lower right lobe. All went fine until after surgery when they told me I had to go for chemo due to microscopic cells found in some of the lymph nodes. I was devastated, still am. Anyway, I have problems with my immune system to begin with so they waited. I was so sick with nausea from surgery disrupting autoimmune. Those two and a half weeks were like I was on chemo. I was so sick and lost more weight, down to 89lbs, I am only 92 now.

Finally after alot of Prilosec and Phazym, I started chemo but due to autoimmune problems they make me go weekly so the dose is not as strong. IIt seems to work well for me. I am not that sick just tired. I hope it wworks for your Mom too. I am only 53 so my kids are scared too. The doctors do NOT want me on radiation because of autoimmune and burning of esophagus so I gather they will not do it with your Mom either. I have to

go through longer chemo, 6 months, instead of 3 instead of radiation. keep me posted.
