Hi...I'm new to the group. I'm hoping there is someone on here that can help me cope. My went into the hospital two weeks ago. She was only going there to get stints in her heart. Well during that visit, she found out that she had tumors in her lungs. These past two weeks we have found out that its Stage 4. She has multiple tumors in her lungs. We found out that one tumor is in the branch going to the esophagus She will eventually have to have a feeding tube in her stomach. They also said that radiation and chemo will only prolong her life a year and half. Shes only 57. I can't belive that my Mom is gonna die soon. I don't know how keep on being strong and understanding. I disagree with a lot of things that shes wanting. Then I hate the way that she doesn't want to talk about "What Now". So I have a question. How and what do I do, and how??

Oh Honey!!! I just now joined this group and see you wrote this distressing message almost a month ago with no replies????? All I can say is what a darned shame! But I AM HERE FOR YOU NOW!!! Let me first say I am holding you in my arms rocking you back and forth. I dont know what has happend since you wrote this and I would love to offer you my support, my experience, my knowledge and my vision of and for Lung Cancer. But this was so long ago I dont know what your status is so I dont want to write anything until I know. I dont like using the web site to engage in dialog because it goes to your email but you have to open this window to read the message, lets cut out the middle man in your situation please feel free to email me and this is ALL of YOU!!!!

it is: mrsbabblebritchess@yahoo.com I will tell you a bit about me. My name is Allison I live in southern Virginia. I am 44 years old. My father's side (he is one of 12 kids keep in mind) I lost several aunts and uncles to lung cancer and now my FAVORITE Aunt of all was diagnosed with a tennis ball size cancerous tumor on her lung. Since she is luckily otherwise very healthy they worked on it with radiation and in just a month they see great shrinkage of the tumor!! Let's hope THIS Aunt kicks lung cancer in its ugly mouth! in 2010 I lost 5 dear dear friends (1 was an Aunt) to lung cancer all between 55 - 65 and 1/2 of them NON SMOKERS YOU HEAR ME NON NON NON SMOKERS! I will get to that in my own post but I just wanted to let you know that I am no stranger to this viceous cancer and am here for ANYONE AND EVERYONE! Just love and compasion.

Peace and Love,

Allison

Oh I so wish my post was caught the day I wrote it. My Mother passed away one week after my post. It was seriously the most devistating thing I've ever went through. The day after my post I flew to Indiana where she lived, so I could help her out. She was having a tube put in her lung so she would be able to drain it on her own. My daugher and I went there for that surgery and we were to stay for 2 weeks. That procedure went real well. However, she wasn't doing good with breathing, walking, talking and all that. Her surgery was on a Friday. The following Monday the home health care nurse came out to show her how to drain her fluid. The next day we went to Radiation to get her prepped up for her to have it on that coming Thursday. We got back to her house after the Radiation appointment. She went and laid down and the phone rang. It was Radiation telling me to take her to the emergency room cause she had excessive fluid around her heart. So from there we went to the Hospital. She then was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Indianapolis. Well that was Tuesday and they did surgery on her Thursday morning. It was a 45 min procedure. We got to go in a see her a couple hours later. She looked like she was doing really good. About 6 hours after her surgery my daughter and I left 45 mins away to go back to her house to get some more clothes cause she was going to be staying for a few more days. We got back and my Mom was in Cardiac Arrest. They had been already working on her for 10 mins. Later they asked me to tell them to stop. That they worked on her a total of 25 mins without a pulse. I WILL NEVER EVER FORGIVE MYSELF FOR LEAVING TO GET CLOTHES!!!!!!!! She is at peace now. We gave her a beautiful funeral and in a peaceful beautiful graveyard. However, had I been there 10 mins prior...I would have been able to hold her hand among other things. Well I am so very sorry to hear that you have lost so many to this dreadful disease. I do know how you feel and I'm here for you as well. Take Care Allison. Smile

newlifechange.....I'm sorry also about no one being on the group to have talked to you in August.

I'm so sorry about your mother. That all happened so fast for you. I am about the age your mother was. My daughter would fall apart if something happened to me. I hope you are getting proper support from family and friends. You might seek out a group that holds weekly meetings for people who are grieving for the death of their loved ones. I think it might help to talk it out. My father died in 2003 from lung cancer that went to his brain. It's a horrible way to die.

I have to go--my boss is calling me, but I hope you are doing ok....

XXX, Beth

Migraine headaches since age 11, arthritis and bulging disks in the c3-c7 area of my neck, scar tissue on my left foot that keeps me from doing anything involving being on my feet for long. Depression since about the age of 18, anxiety and anxiety attacks. Sleep apnea (I use my Bipap religiously)I still have daytime sleepiness occasionally......

Thanks Beth! I'm doing alright right now. Numbness took over. Moments of being ok and then moments of breakdowns. I really feel my Mom made me strong after she passed. Of course she would do anything for me to be happy. Allisse I know what you mean. I hate lung cancer also. Take care everyone. Oh and I will check out a group for grieving.

I am a 51 year old female that is in intractable pain, I've had 5 spinal surgeries including a 3 level/360 fusion from L2 to L5. The surgery failed and I am in miserable pain 24/7. I had an SCS implanted in June of 08, and I want to have a trial for the pain pump, but it will have to wait until I move... I am a cancer survivor x 2 and right now I am convalescing at home from a surgery on my R leg, were I had plates and screws installed.
