Hi All

Well I have been on Acitretin for just over 6 weeks now and my LP has improved heaps. I took 10mg for 2 weeks then bumped up to 20mgs. Am also down to only 5mg of steriods. I had it all over my body except face and scalp. The scarring is coming out but I have been told this will fade eventually. The acitretin is drying out my lips and the skin on my face has changed and am getting a few pimples and dry spots. As long as this doesnt come back with a vengeance then I will be extremely happy. Just thought I would let you all know.

Hi Blackmon. Been to see the Dermatologist who got results of my bloodtests and all of my bloods were OK (even hormone levels). So I am going back to thinking my LP was definitely triggered by the bites on my leg that I got in Bali. Dermatologist has told me to half my steroid use down to 5mg every alternate day and stay on the Vitamin A drug (I have reduced this by half without him knowing so hopefully it doesnt backfire!).

I have been on Acitretin 50mg now for about 2 months after going off prednisone completely. Its working, but I think my hair is starting to fall out and there isn't many eyebrow hairs to pluck. I went for blood tests every two weeks for the first month and now I am suppose to go for blood tests once per month on Acitretin. Now I am going back to see the specialist tomorrow and hopefully try another drug. I don't want to loose my hair. The thick skin on the heals of my feet are peeling and my lips are very dry from the Acitretin.

Hi Oklakebc

You are on a very high dose. I was only on 20mg of acitretin per day plus 5mg of prednisolone and that was enough. My lesions have gone and touch wood wont return. I was on Acitretin for 5 months and am now completely off. Have you tried a lower dose?
