I was diagnosed in December 2010. I got into a dermatologist surprisingly quickly, thanks to my GP. However, the creams and pills (to stop itching) are really only keeping it at bay.

I have patches on the palms of my hand that are very thick. The skin is red, thick and is starting to crack. It's also starting to peel off.

I've been trying to stay upbeat and positive. However, for whatever reason, today has been rather depressing. I feel completely stressed about this.

I dream of a day when I don't itch anywhere!

Sorry you had to join our club in this way. What type of medication does your dermatologist have you using?

I'm on Apo-Hydroxyzine 25mg for the itching, and Tiamol cream, and another cream (can't remember the name) that I am only to put on the really thick knots. Just started UVB light treatment yesterday - three times a week.

Right now, my hands are terrible, the palms are all cracked and dry and painfully burning.

I'm trying to be upbeat and positive, but boy is it hard!

Hi oe74! I too dream of a day when I do not itch anymore...but may be this problem is less worrisome than what so many people our age must be suffering from..malignancies for example... LP ..they all and the literature all over the world says is self-limiting.. so the day we don't itch anymore will definitely come ......Sarah
