Sheesh, I never got notifications of the questions, Blackmon. Sorry. It's a year later. Goodness. Let me answer anyway, hopefully you found answers in the interim. The dilators are over the counter, thank goodness. They cost about $50-60 per set. The suppositories are hydrocortisone, that's it, they are normally used rectally but can be used vaginally for this purpose.
Most importantly are the dilators though, because the vagina needs to stay stretched, and lots of sex, seriously, which is bett...

I agree with suzalex. Haven't tried some of it, but the coconut oil+baking soda I have to give a try.
I have changed my diet about 6 months ago, am not mostly gluten and dairy free. But it takes time, at least for me. Have only seen that the rash around my mouth is finally going away, but the Vulvar and Oral LP do come back on occasion.
I also suggest, when changing the diet, to stay away from heat producing foods. That tip I received from an acupuncturist, an ayurvedic doctor, and a nutrition...

HI Wendy
I am writing with tears in my eyes. I'm sorry. And I m trying not to be a pessmist. Anyoe who knows me knows that I am the eternal opitimist!

At 43, I had unexplained itching and pain in the Southern region. (Crotch area.) All the various docs thought it was yeast or sexually transmitted disease. 2 years later, the docs AT MAYO diagnosed me with VLP. Sadly, I'm fully scarred up. (5 years of no intercourse) I have been on methotrexate (6-8 pills per week)for 3 years and no ...

Hello
My consultant prescribed Protopic. It is an ointment you put on morning and before bed. So far it has worked wonderfully. Even though I have been prescribed Flixonase as a mouthwash, (which I have stopped using), oral lichen planus seems to have calmed down. Still at the back of my mind I am still aware that it can flare up again. Hopefully it will work for you to if you were to try it. Good luck....

Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.
I feel your pain believe me!, I have had LP(SKIN) for four years I contacted it by caring for my husbands back while he had Impetigo a highly contagious skin condition without gloves, washed cloth's together used his towel, etc. I first got the Impetigo on my bottom legs after about almost two weeks it started to spread to my arms, back all over my whole body but, it didn't look the same as the Impetigo.I went to the Derm (very good family friend) he told him that I ...

Although my mouth is very sore at times i can cope with thatm but i cannot cope with loosing my hair. I am very scared on how this will affect my life. i feel very selfish as i have not been diagnosed with anything terminal but for me it is quite difficult to face having no hair.

Does anyone know of anything which may prolong the symstons....

Hi . . . I have had Lichen Planus since Nov. 2012, orally mostly and one small dot on my torso. I can tell you what I have learned.
Most importantly, it is vital to understand that the immune system is compromised, and to correct this, I personally started the following dietary changes two week ago:

Lots of spring or distilled water.

No grains of any kind.

No dairy of any kind.

No sugar.

Eating mostly fruit (juicing organic apples, lemon, parsley, melons berries.)If not organic,...

justme1 - thank you for the info on use of aloe vera gel and the Orajel mouthsore rinse. Definitely want to try this option as I really don't want to have to keep using a steroid mouth rinse on a long-term basis.

Hope you continue to get relief!...

I'd give it a try, downside risk is its unlikely to do any harm, upside is that it will probably help. Its a tea, not that expensive, much safer option that any of the drugs being suggested. You can find the icelandic moss on ebay.
Please let me know how it works out for you....

Hi Pattyjjt, Try Horsetail tea mixed with icelandic moss, seems to be working for us. Apply 2 to 3 times a day. Have to keep it up otherwise it can regress, seems to be more of a natural itch suppressant rather than a cure.
Good luck.
Be careful with the drugs, we think that LP was a side effect of avapro blood pressure medicine, can't be certain....

Hi Carole,
I haven't been to the Mayo clinic but my NP went to a seminar in AZ in early March 2013 where a presenter from the Mayo clinic gave an overview of LP. Since I have only been presenting itching for three weeks I am hopefully getting very early treatment. I hope hope hope that early treatment will keep me from the debilitation part of this disease, but I don't know. I don't know if ALL LP sufferers progress to the debilitating stage and also get LP on their skin and nose and scalp...
