Hi everyone my name is amirah and I have been living with Keratoconus for only over a year. I have been wearing glasses for over the same period. I have been going to Chicago Cornea Consultants for recent check ups n stuff. My doctor suggested that he think i would have a sharper image with the contact lenses, so I wanted to ask if anyone here have been using the lenses and have some feedback for me on this issue. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

Hi Amscas, sorry to be so long in replying, we were in CA getting my son's Keratoconus healed.

They tried to put him in lenses, but he was too far progressed for them. Have you seen a copy of your eye mapping? It tells a LOT about where your eyes are at currently, and also shows the thickness of the cornea. His was down to a thickness of 480 and to the point he couldn't read his school books or the computer homework they had. We were told his corneas could rupture at any time. He had the C3R treatment with the Ultra Violet light and the intacts put in. We are thrilled with the results!

If you have been using glasses ok, and the institute is now talking about contacts, it sounds like yours is progressing somewhat. At what rate, I don't know. (And I'm not a medical Doctor.) Here is a site for the Doctor we went to in CA [URL]www.boxerwachler.com[URL]. There is tons of information there on Keratoconus. I researched for over 2 months before we had our appointment out there. But what he does is so life changing!! He is the only Doctor in the US who is certified at this time to do this procedure. My son has been completely healed of Keratoconus, will never have to worry about it, or going blind ever again. In 5 days his cornea thickness went from 480 to 525. We have a check up next week with our local Regional Eye Clinic and I can't wait to see how much he progresseses next.

I do know that the contacts do help slow down the process for lots of people. Also that Keratoconus progresseses at different rates in different people, some fast, some slow. I pray yours is the slow. Some people have had it for 10 years or more with not much progression.

I hope this helps. Keep us posted on your contacts and how they work for you. It would help others with Keratoconus also to know how yours is doing. Also, I would be interested in knowing your corneal thickness if you don't mind.

Have a beautiful day!!

Pamela {please}

I wish tons of love and hugs!
