Well yesterday we got bad news, and I was in tears doing more mad searches online about Keratoconus, treatments, who is good, what should we do, etc. I've been reading all over for the past month and one name keeps coming up. I read his site (now it is renewed and changed since I first read it, but still excellent information. I am 100% convinced that this one is the best.

Ok, the news we got was, The eye Doc said that my son's eyes have changed so much in the past year, and that she was so amazed by it. (That shows she knew a year ago but chose not to tell us) And that in just the past month his vision changed to the point that his corneas are so thin that she can't give a prognosis, he has days, possibly weeks till then. As a Mother, I am very protective, I want what's best, and I want him FIXED. So I went to this Dr's site, read all the new information, and called them. I talked to the lady who's picture is at the top of the page, Jen. She is SUCH a nice caring person who talked to me for a good 30 minutes and I left the conversation with so much information for my son, and peace that I haven't felt with this since we found out about it.

It is a scary thought that your son, your only living child, could go blind at any time now. And he's only 22.

Here is the web link: http://www.keratoconusinserts.com/about.htm

I've read so many things about him and this treatment in the medical journals, the opthamalic journals, in the medical and opth. magazines and updates, etc.

I first learned of this treatment being done in India, Germany and Australia. I prayed that this Dr. Boxer Wachler would be in the US. And he is, in CA. I'm so happy about that.

The C3R treatment, I've been reading and researching on it quite a lot. Go to the page on the site that is talking about the C3R and look at the pictures, it shows that an eyes layers on a Keratoconus eye lack the 'strings' of sorts, the Connecting fibers that hold the cornea together and keep it from coning out. But the eye to the right shoes the connective tissues as they should be, holding things together. By using the C3R process the fibers are able to grow back in place so to speak.

The intacts we are very comfortable with him doing. They help keep the eye flattened out so that there is no longer any coning.

Their success rate is up above 98%. The C3R halts the progression of the Keratoconus, which is awesome news.

I will post more on this thread as I have more info, and if we are able to make the trip, I will let you know ahead of time, and again when we get back, then keep you posted on his progress.

Have a lovely day.

I wish tons of love and hugs!

I hoped to be able to post an update by now saying we have our scheduled appointment, etc. But the Eye Doc my son has been going to is playing games on releasing his records. Nightmare!! First the lady who authorizes release of the records was out, then someone else went home early, next excuse was they were shorthanded, now the excuse is the lady who does the copying is out of the office ill. Gosh...only one person can put something under the glass and push the green button. Sounds like a cushy job to me, I'd like to have it. LOL

But, I will definately post more info on how everything is going when we know something more.

Have a lovely day!
