I am 4 days beyond the day of my last colonoscopy and my colon just aches. I have had 5 or 6 colonoscopies in the past and have never experienced the pain for this long after. This pain is on my left side and radiates into my lower left back and down into my leg.

Is this normal? It doesn't feel normal for me, but it has been 3 years since my last scope so maybe my memory isn't great. Having said that, I remember I went on a trip to Seattle right after my last scope and I don't recall the discomfort affecting me there.

DEAR MARTAM,

SEE YOUR DOCTOR RIGHT AWAY. THEY TELL YOU THAT UPON YOUR DISCHARGE THAT IF YOU HAVE BLEEDING, UNFORGIVING PAIN AND SUCH TO CALL YOUR DOCTOR.

THE INSIDE OF THE COLON IS VERY SENSITIVE TRUE BUT YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE THAT KIND OF PAIN.

IT SOUNDS LIKE A PINCHED NERVE.

SEE YOUR DOCTOR. LET ME KNOW HOW IT GOES.

HUGS,

KATHLEEN
