MDJunction to me

mabri"When I was diagnosed about 18 months ago with fibromyalgia, I didn't know where to turn. I got on my computer and looked for a support group where I could talk to other people with the same disease and get some help...Information, suggestions, mostly just what I can do now that I have this.....disorder/disease/syndrome...I didn't even know what to call it. I found MDJ, and yes, there was a support group for fibro. I started a post, and figured I would never get an answer. However, very quickly I was welcomed in, and became really involved in the group. I received help, support, friendship and the feeling of being truly cared about by these strangers who had become like family to me. Now, I have been here for about a year and a half...I have become a group leader, and love every minute of it. It is so wonderful to be able to help others. I still receive help and answers from the members in this group. The fibromyalgia is where I go to help, support, listen, care and even laugh. I don't know what I would do without this group." I had been taking tons of antacids for my upset stomach and heartburn, thinking it was harmless - and it sure does make me feel better!

Now I found out if you take too much, it can damage your liver! I'm already being tested monthly for liver function, due to another med I have to take. This is incentive to get the IBS under better contrlo.

Any suggestion I offer is intended as friendly advice based solely on my own experience. Please consult your doctor for professional guidance.

From various medical sites and doctors it appears the best thing you can do is to watch your diet and exercise often. Maybe search the internet with google and try to find something that may work for you.

I edited this post because we are not here to provide medical information and it could bring up liability issues. (wildsky)

Hope this helps a bit!

Just because it's impossible doesn't mean it can't happen.

I'm not a doc, so anything I say is my opinion only. Nothing I say is meant as offense, I offer what I can as help. I believe in educating myself on all my medical issues and being my own advocate, for no one else with do that on my behalf. I recommend we all do the same!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.

Fluffy,

I beg to differ with your post. We are here to share information with each other on our experience, and our treatments. What we are to use care in, is not advising others as to their care and treatments, but we certanily have the ability to give our opinions as a lay person and as a patient and to quote new found information.

According to research and my beloved grandmother,

Licorice is a great aid to digestion.
