Thanks for the replies. I was beginning to think no one else got this. I know I feel the incomplete evacuation. It's frustrating. Now my bowel movements are, excuse me, foul smelling. I take Librax when the pain is really bad and I take Miralax almost every day. But still have that feeling of being stuck....

I'm NOT a doctor, but wondering eating what you did would Give ANYBODY an upset stomach-what are you thinking?

Where did you come up with this diet from, mind if I ask?

After eating a teaspoon of cottage cheese all day yesterday and lots of seven up I gorged on cereal and a tiny bit of ice cream.

Are you, perhaps lactose intolerant? Both cottage cheese and ice cream are milk by products

ANY carbonated beverage will upset your stomach as well

Cereal alone is ROUGHAGE, again eati...

Oddly, most of us grew up eating sandwiches naturally ON BREAD and now we find Bread not only has sugar in it but also GLUTEN

GLUTEN is a culprit for me

Wheat bread has less sugar

I suggest you get diet from your doctor

Or start doing online research

My ibs flared up again today-and I haven't had bread since last week! There are many trigger foods. Like a food allergy, you must figure out your own self what triggers such...

I am gluten free. I have to avoid all food that has wheat, barley or flour unless it is made strictly of rice flour. This includes cake, cookies, candy bars, etc. The good news is there are now a lot of gluten free foods on the market especially at Krogers. I have to avoid processed foods like tv dinners because something in them make me sick. Also I have to avoid things like spaghetti and pizza sauce. I have to stick with tomato paste and then add something like lemon pepper to give it flavor i...

Well, I feel your pain emotionally and physically. In the colon of life those of us with ibs are the roto rooter. I too have generalized anxiety disorder as well as severe depression and am sensitive to gluten, fried foods, onions and tomatoes for sure. I sleep a lot because all my meds make me tired. When I can no longer deal with the ibs symptoms I take Librax which slows the motion of the intestines down. It helps but also makes me very tired.
Sorry I did not notice this reply lol. I was going to say 1 tablet seems to have stopped working as well as it use to...do you just sort of become immune to it after a while? Is that why some people have to increase their dosage? I try to take breaks here and there from it on my days off I usually stay away from it obviously since I don't need it anyway, unless I'm going out somewhere and feel like I might need it. There are also some days where I can go to work without having to take it at all....

They have to be relatively simple ones so I do a lot of abstract painting. I also am trying to get into making some greeting cards and scrapbooking.

Thanks for your reply! :) I guess I'll have to keep at the trial and error process. With regards to the yogurt, I was debating if I wasn't lactose interlorant but interlorant or allergic to another component in dairy (like casein). I never considered the high sugar content in yogurt, my stomach also gets upset when I eat too much suagry foods, so that's another angle to consider. I also normally eat yogurt as a snack or dessert, so I wonder if it would make a difference on a full stomach?

Hmmm... If the diarrhea started gradually over time, then it is probably a bit more likely to be IBS than if it started suddenly. Assuming you have good doctors, they will ask the right questions to try to determine how likely it is to be IBS.

As far as what you can do to relieve the symptoms, I can offer a few general suggestions. But keep in mind that even for people clearly diagnosed with IBS, there is no single treatment that reliably works for most of us; everybody is different, whic...

Hi. Something you can try is an elimination diet (I just googled it) I did that for a month and then slowly started including certain foods back into my diet to see how I reacted to them, if nothing then they are put on my can eat list. I also suffer from RA I am able to manage myself solely thru diet and light exercise. My ibs is completely gone. Just by removing bad trigger foods and eating a lot of brown rice, fiber and protein. I eat an anti-inflammatory diet along with vitamins, minerals,...

Dear mmsd,
Thank you so much for your reply and sorry for the delayed response. I appreciate what you shared. We see a new doctor next week that I hope will help. Interested in the asacol and levsin--we will ask about. The Elavil did not help her and if anything aggravated some of the upper stomach issues. The last few weeks have been truly awful for her. Thank you for sharing info on the foundations. I will look into that. I think it's hard to go thru these things in HS like you stated. Thank...

Hello One4islands,

Research has shown that your period, and the affects it causes within your body, can affect IBS. It is hard to tell which is which because both display common symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain and such.

IBS affects each of us differently. Like other chronic illnesses, finding what triggers an episode for you, what medication works for you and what doesn't is all trial and error.

Probiotics, perscribed medications, relaxation techniques, exercising, stretching ...
