What is a bladder wash?

while I am on the operating table knocked out they are going to run like a laproscopic camera in there and look at the lining of my bladder then wash it out with a medication to help sooth the bladder walls, I am not sure about all the details but they basically are going to shove liquid in and let it drain out kind of like you would rinse your mouth out with mouth wash...

I think I know what you are talking about. Is it called DMSO?

When I had interstial they used it on me. I had 6 weeks treatment, I think?

First time I stopped at three. But things got worse so I did all of them.

At that time it was experimental.

I never had interstial again. I had had it for about 5 years before treatment. Now it has been 15 years since I had an attack.

Good luck with surgery dear.

I am not sure, I just know he is doing a cystoscopy of the bladder and gonna shove some fluid in there and it's supposed to help, I will know or remember more when I get out and have all the paper work less than 12 hours to go now!

Got to come home Wed. afternoon but had to go to the e.r. Fri night cause I still hadn't pooped. they gave me 4 ampules of morphine while I was there then just before my husband brought me home they stuck my rear with a huge dose of Demerol/Phenergan and gave me a prescription for Demerol tablets for "breakthrough pain" and said not to strain to try to poop and to take a dose of Correctol 2 times a day and bump my Miralax up from one dose a day to 3 times a day till I get at least 3 weeks out from surgery due to my body still flushing out all the anesthesia and high pain med doses. I feel better now but I did strain too much so my tummy is hurting extra; I didn't mess anything up just made it more sore. I am back home now, (again) and doing good just getting bored cause they have switched me to complete bed rest full time except 3 or 4 15 minute walks on the treadmill a day and potty breaks, I am getting so bored! believe it or not, I hurt less now after the surgery and before I even have had my two week post-op than I have in the last three years at all! Does that mean I'm strange or just everything else is dulled by the morphine for now? LOL at least I get to catch up on my tv shows now!

Sjpeack, how do you like your doctor? I live near Montgomery, Alabama, and in the process of getting an appointment with a Urologist. Just in case it doesn't work out with the new doctor, I'd like to know if there is a better choice. Hope you feel better soon.
Gentle Hugs,
Carla

the guy that checked up on my bladder was a pelvic pain specialist at Brookwood Hospital here in Birmingham, his name is Dr. Alex Childs, his office is the founder of the "pelvic Pain" Specialty, The guy that was the main pioneer of it passed away last year of cancer, his name was Paul Perry. The name of the clinic is: "C. Paul Perry Pelvic Pain Center". He only sees patients by referral so you will have to get your ob-gyn or family Dr. to call, and don't be upset if you get an appointment that is almost a year away, they move it up every couple of weeks til it winds up being a 2 month wait instead... ***C. Paul Perry Pelvic Pain Center, A Division of OB GYN South, Dr. Alex J. Childs, M.D., FACOG*** Main number 205-397-9000, or toll free 800-624-9676, The staff are wonderful and they take very detailed life medical history then when you get there to his office they go back over it with you and do several things like the urine sample, blood work, and the internal sonogram, then you go back and talk to him then his nurse will do some type of bladder test that they give through a very small catherter, they drain you, push a small amount of fluid in and ask how it feels then they drain that and push a little bit more in and ask about that then they take the catheter out and he comes in does a small exam and asks more questions about how you feel and what you were doing when the pain happens then he sends you home and calls you back when all the tests come back in and you go from there on what he wants to do and what your okay with doing. Like I said very thorough. You may be best when you get your appointment to ask about something called "Interstitial Cystitis", and go from there. Your are more than welcome to ask me anything you want to know and if I have any idea about it I can let you know.
