[b]I just finished my fourth round of Clomid, and still no pregnancy. My doctor now wants to try another test involving an x-ray of my fallopian tubes and uterus. Has anyone done this yet?

I thinthe dr is talking about a HSG hystosalponogram). For most people it is no big deal. They lay you down on a table and insert a catherter and fill your uterus with fluid and see it it going through your tubes to see if they are open or not by taking xrays of it.

I am one of those freak people who has allergies to everything -- especially dye. So, if you have any allergies espeially to dye, have them try a small amount on your skin or something first. My doctor blew me off and it was at the beginning of my IF journey so I didn't know better. The fluid went through both of my tubes so they were open, but then I had a massive allergice reaction to the dye that no one in my local area wout diagnose (my new dr thought it was fear of having to take responsibility). For me, it was a horrible experience. For moet. it is just some serious cramps and an afternoon off.

As far as already having one child and not trying for the second. I know many people probaly look at you and think "what is her issue, she has one and that is more than we have." Even though I have not had my dirst yet, I thinkit would be just as painful if not more so going thorugh all of this with a second since it worked the first time an dnot now. I am one who blames myself for everything though.

I hope this helps a bit. I have been throught a lot in this realm, so if you have any questions ot just want to chat, feel free to pm me.

Kelly

Its completely painless (as long as you have no dye allergies! haha) and it can tell the doctors a whole lot! It'll make the difference from whether you just need hormone therapy for your ovaries to release an egg or if you need some kind of corrective or restorative surgery (if possible) to open them back up. Because if they are closed, nothing can go up or down.. Good news is you couldnt get an ectopic pregnancy in your fallopian tubes.. but bad news is you couldnt get pregnant with a normal pregnancy either. Its a necessary procedure and you'll be just fine!

I work in Radiology and they do these all the time. Just be sure that the physician you have doing it has done it before and you're not his guinea pig!

Let us know how it works out!

Jen

I had an HSG done last December. Well, tried to have one done. The doctor performing the procedure couldn't get ahold of my uterus because it was so retroverted. When he finally did get hold of it it hurt so bad it made me cry. We were unab le to continue with the procedure and since my insurance wasn't paying for any infertility stuff, my OB/GYN put me on Clomid. I am now on round 3 of Clomid this time @ 100mg and waiting to see what this does for me.

Good luck to all!

A HSG hurts! I have had 2 of them done and the pain (severe cramping) is no joke. But it should be done. When it comes to your tubes if they are blocked nothing will come down which means no fertilized eggs will be in your future.. Also there have been alot of women who have gotten pregannt after having one of these tests donw. So good luck. Take some good ibprofin before going in though.
