When you say "total hysterectomy" do you mean the cervix, uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes? Does your doctor have you on HRT? I'm just currious and I want to help you in any way that I can. But I don't want to try to help give advice w/o a little more information.

I found out through asking questions of my doctor a lot of women have total hysterectomies but still have ovaries & fallopian tubes and don't have to go on HRT. That's a little different if your body makes estrogen naturally or if you need to supplement estrogen.

I joke that I was gutted like a fish because in a twisted sense that's what it felt like to me at first. I didn't feel any less of a woman just hollow. My best advice until we can communicate again, and even after that is to do reading & research on the subject. I like WebMD for a lot of things helath related in my personal life and even my doctor's trust WebMD and that made me feel good.

Hi Laura,

I had my hysterectomy back in Dec. The doctor that did it didn't listen when I told him something was off, so I went to a new doctor. She's changing my hormones, and I basically want to break things for the first few days on the new dosage. If your gut tells you something's wrong, and your doctor won't listen, you might want to consider getting a second opinion. On the other hand, having a hysterectomy REALLY messes up the body, at least it has mine. What I do is demand some time on my own, something I can do that doesn't stress me out. This seems to help some. If nothing else, you could sit out on the porch for a while and just breathe and let your mind wander to calmer times. Just hang in there; this will pass.
