Silvia~

Welcome to the group. Have you had your thyroid levels tested lately? I don't know about anyone else in here but, for me I don't think that the synthetic thyroid hormone fixes all of the issues? A lot of us still have heat and cold sensitivity. For me the doctor has my technically hyperthyroid due to me having thyroid cancer 3 years ago and I still have fatigue, cold, etc. I just recently stared to loose weight so there is hope.

Again welcome to the group!

Mandy

Thank you so much! I actually just made an appointment to check my thyroid levels again in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping that things get better. I too still have a lot of fatigue, not so much sensitivity to cold but heat yes! I feel like I'm having hotflashes sometimes. It sucks...congrats on seeing some change in weightloss! I hope you reach your goals! Smile

I also was dx this past June with Hypo. I am on 75ug of Levothyroxine (synthroid) but I still have to deal with fatigue and issues with hot and cold. I was lucky and my weight come off fast but I was dealing with some other problems too so not sure which pills worked for me there.

In October my TSH was at 3.210 which my Dr. is happy with but they go by the old scale here. I think it should be changed because I still don't feel well alot of the time. I get alot of numbness in the face and foot, also quite dizzy.

I'm not a Dr. and anything I write is my oppinion and my opinion only. I am just like you, I'm here for support and friendship from people who understand what I'm dealing with.

Hi and welcome to the group Silvia...we are really glad you're here and decided to post.

Having thyroid issues are very difficult ones. It is quite different from your average 'condition' as the medication takes quite awhile for you to see any results. Also your thyroid fluctuates, no matter whether you are on meds or not. This is why it is so difficult to treat.

JMO: When you are first dx, you need to have your levels checked at least every 3 to 6 months until you find that your levels remain somewhat consistent. After that, I think it would be safe to say that once a year would be enough. I am no doctor, but I am just going on my own experiences. I have been hypo for 20 years.

Seeing as how you just started taking your meds in June, I would say that the theory of you not taking your meds long enough, would apply. It takes time - patience with having a thyroid condition is something you definitely have to have.

If you have not had your levels checked since June, I would definitely have them checked again. Also, JMO again, I think once you're hypo, you are always going to have to deal with the issues of cold / heat intolerance and the weight issue...unfortunately, it just comes with it.

Good luck,

Kay

Hi Silvia, Welcome to the group. So glad you found us. We are still small but the support is big.

I hear ya when you talk about unresolved symptoms. I have some too. For me its being cold all the time.

I wish I could say something that would help with the need to nap and the weight problem but really the only thing I can say is keep talking to your doctor about it. Maybe there is something that can be done.

I hope someone with better advice comes along.

Thank you for all the advice and support ladies! I am truly getting more comfortable talking about my issues. I personally don't know anyone else that have these symptoms so its always a little embarrasing to talk about them. I guess I just have to keep hope and patience...everyone has made me feel so much stronger and hopeful just by showing compassion. I am so happy to have joined this support group. I will be talking to my doctors about all of this...I learned more just from this website than speaking with a doctor. hahaSmile I am just so anxious to feel like myself again...lol without the constant naps and embarrassing shortness of breath...I hope everyone has a good day, and again thank you for the advice and compassion!

Hi Silvia,

Welcome to our group ~~~~~~~~~~

I, too, am Hypothyroid and it s definitely not a fun condition to struggle thru.

I could lie down at almost any given time during the day and take a nap but working does not allow such a luxury so I struggle thru . Sometimes bedtime comes very early in this household for ""moi"" ...LOL !!!

Hi Silvia,

We re glad you found our group also. Maybe together we can help each other learn new things and how to cope with bad thyroids.
