I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in my 8th pregnancy about a year ago. They put me on Synthroid and things started to improve. They increased the dosage about two months ago and things were still improving. Then I started birthcontrol(Nuvaring) about a month ago. All of the symptoms I had while pregnant are returning suddenly. Does anyone know if birth control medications can affect or counteract with Synthroid?

Hi, my name is Kathy. I've been on thyroid replacement for about 5 years now. Thyroid medicines can hinder a lot of other medicines, especially birth control pills. Are you actually taking Synthroid or a generic?

Sorry, I haven't had a chance to reply. I am on the real Synthroid and my symptoms are still getting worse. Mainly my voice is the first thing that tells me it's acting up again. And my nails break easily, hair is really dry, stuff like that. My doctor has not gotten back to me yet. Did you have some of the same symptoms?
