Having lived with this disease for 10 years and then with all of the recent trouble I have had, it is important to take them regularly at that same time every day. When my husband gets up in the morning for work at 6 AM, I take my Synthroid that way I do not have to worry about it later in the day. On the weekends, I set my alarm clock for 6 AM, take it and that is it. It is also a good idea to set your medicine bottle next to your bed or the kitchen sink just as a reminder. Just remember, the key is be consistent! Anything else, I am here to helpSmile

Yes, shegoreee, it is important to take your meds as specified by dr., bottle label or your pharmacist. If your dr. doesn t specify and you don t read it on your label, please be sure to check with the pharmacist when you pick up the 'script.

Alicia, I have been told that yes, it is very important to take Synthroid at the same time every day (I, too, take mine at 6 AM); also take it on an empty stomach and at least 2 hours prior to taking any calcium supplements or vitamins. (The calcium can adhere to the other meds and render them useless.)

Good for you in that you even set your alarm clock for early morning on weekends to take your Synthroid !!! That is very important ~~~~ Wink

Hi Yvonne,

I have had low-normal thyroid leavels sine my early 20's. I have be on and off the meds. I never have felt any difference. Curently I am taking Armor. I have had a rash for months and it hasn't gone away, even with the creams my doctor has given me. Two days ago a light bulb went off and I called my pharmasit and asked if I could be allergic to Armor? Her reply was,"a rash"?. Bingo.

So I'm going to stop for a few days and see what happens. I let you know.

All the years I had been taking thyroid medication, I didn't know you were to take it at the same time and by it's self. I do water exercise and we were talking about our thyroid problems. Only then did I find out I had been taking it wrong for all these years. So, I started taking it at the same time and by itself and it didn't make any difference in the way I feltSad.

Thank you Yvonne, for the hello. I forget to come to this site. I'm usually in the Fibro or CFS site. We all talk about our thyroids there as well. I will check back here more often.

Hi, my name is Kim and I have been taking the thyroid med. Synthroid and Levothyroxine for two and a half years. I never feel any difference either and sometimes I wonder if I even need it anymore. I. just want it to go away. I developed it with my last pregnancy and they said it could go away but so far everything is the same. When I was first diagnosed my voice loss was so severe that I had to force my voice alot and now finally after two years I found that it caused me to develope vocal cord nodules. i wish they'd have told me sooner then I wouldn't have had to suffer with it all this time. Well if you want to talk you can send a message anytime. Yf, KimberlySmile

Hi Kim,

I've been on Synthoid and Levoxyl in the past and like I said the Armor now. It's nice? to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't "feel" the difference. I stopped taking Levoxyl, when my perscription ran out. I was off for a while. I didn't notice anything. When my lab work came back, my doctor phoned to let me know my thyroid was way low and he didn't understand why. When I explained I had stopped taking it, he wasn't happy. Apparently once you start you are not suppose to stop. Who knew. I was trying the Amour, because it "natural". Like I said I think it's giving me a rash. I stopped it today and will wait a week to see what happens.

I don't understand about your voice. I'm not sure why you would loose it with low thyroid. I can understand about the nodules from straining but still confused.

MDjunction is a great place to discover what other people are doing. I've been here since Nov.08 I tell everybody about it. So welcome.

It's late and my brain is foggy. I will write again.

Hugs,

Shirley Smile

Hi Shirley its nice to meet you. I really didn't have many sypmtoms that my thyroid was out of whack so I didn't notice too much change either. Could that be the case with you? I think some meds take a while to get into your system. Maybe you haven't taken them correctly and steadily long enough to see a change. Whatever the reason I think its important you continue to take the thyroid med as even though you don't feel the diffence it is probably still better for you and your thyroid.

Hi Yvonne,

I hadn't thought about that. So atta girl!. That's the reason I keep comming back to mdjunction. There is always someone who will have a new idea. I never had though about the symptoms. I didn't notice any, besides the weight, so who knows what it's helping or not. It is important to stay on, ( I learned that from my doctor).

Thank you for the input.

Hugs,

ShirleySmile
