Mid...it's just one big circle, huh? You don't know where one stops and the other begins...

I am sure the rest of you guys feel the same way.

So true, Kay. I guess today is one of my vent/rage days... or more likely a whine day. I always wonder why women have so many more types of illnesses/conditions than men... Sad

Just ain't fair is it Mid? It's funny my husband actually walked around and worked with floating bone chips in his knee and couldn't even bend his knee. They finally did surgery but he just kept on walking and working even though I knew he was in excruciating pain.

You let him get a cold or the flu though and he's just pitiful. LOL

Of course, I'm always pitiful - I can't seem to handle anything.

I'm not used to seeing many men handle things regardless of how small or large *lol* I guess there are only 4 I can think of... my brother, nephew, my SO and his dad. It just seems when you look at the statistics of a lot of illnesses (thyroid, fms, etc.) it affects many, many more women than men.

I have hypothyroidism. All the women on both sides of my family have it. I was dx when I was 16 and am 28 now. I think I had it long before I was dx. I went from being a really skinny kid to being overweight at about 10. I don't remember going to the dr very often. My mom was a single parent and was always really busy. I just think she didn't notice what was going on. She wasn't dx until a few yrs ago. I'm just glad that I finally went to dr for seizures and this came out in testing. It is very important that it is working properly. I have had just about all the symptoms from not taking pills regularly: weight gain, hair loss, insomnia, heat sensitivity, etc.

Hi Karli,

I think probably my sister might be hypothyroid but she and I have never talked about it. She just got over having chemo for hep c and I wonder if thats anything her routine bloodwork would have picked up. Same with my mother. They are both plenty overweight and both have thinning hair. My mom is always cold. I would like to see them get help if thats the case and then if they had it I would have to assume that it can run in families.

I was dx d as Hypo almost 3 years ago. PCP said ""we need to jump start your non-functioning thyroid"". I ve been on various dosages of Levrothyroxine since . My biggest complaint is constantly being tired !!!

I didn't even know my being tired all the time could be related to my hypothyroidism. I attributed it to meds and other things. Now I know it could be the thyroid causing it. I can't wait to see my doctor in March and get all the blood test done. I am so curious as to where I stand.
