MDJunction to me

jpcrps"When I found MD Junction, I was in the beginning stages of RSD/CRPS. I was scared, lacked knowledge about the condition, and felt very alone.

MD Junction changed all of that for me. I found friendship and terrific information from people who had first-hand knowledge of this syndrome. It was and still is a big part of my life.

MDJ was my first step on the journey of grief; from denial to acceptance. I am now inspired to help others by sharing this amazing site and sharing my own experiences. I am very impressed that one forum site can provide hope and inspiration to people suffering from so many different conditions. I am proud to be a part of this community.

perhaps an increase, esp if u r + for Hashi's. I just say and endo doc for the 1st time ( not impressed). I was diagnoses thru symptoms that were not resolving with depression meds, and standard t3 and t4 meds ( synthroid with cytomel , or armour alone) we did antibody tests and they came back in the 400's... so according to endocrine whether u r 2 points outside of the normal of 2,000 it is still + for hashi's. she however took me off the 7 grains of armour ( RX by a psychiatrist that follows the concepts put forth in stopping the thyroid madness book) as she said it was WAY too much and i did have noticeably hyperactive reflexes so i was not gonna argue about it much.. i needed meds to treat the illness.. she took me off armour ( a lot of endocrine docs will not use it) and went to a mcq by kg/or body wt dose of synthroid( t4 i think, or t3.. i get it confused). i am now on 200 mcg but when i was pregnant i was up to 150 mcg so... the part that peeves me is that she doesnt want to see me for 6-9 months.. NO LABS? wth?ya know...grrrr

If you dont feel well, if you want to go sooner tell them. I like going every month, so I know where Im at and whatnot.

Well I go back in october for a full thyroid panel. My doc said if I dont get in with the endo soon, he'll order it. I dont know why he didnt order it from the get go. I know you said you are positive for hash, but did you have postpartum thyroiditis? There are too many types.. I just wanna know what i have and what was the trigger. I just have a good theory. What are you on now if not the levo/armour combo?

Actually I started loosing weight fairly fast once I was put on meds. I was dxd in the spring of 08 when I ended up being rushed to the hospital with what they thought might be a stroke. Trying to find out what happened to me my new Dr. said you know your hypo right. I'd never been told that before and in the fall of 07 I'd had a full blood workup and my TSH was then 10.71.

Yes I've been told I will be taking meds for life. I've found I can usually tell now when my levels are not right. I have no energy and I loose hair real bad. I also have an issue with my feet and legs but I don't know if its from my thyroid or not. Just seems odd because it always happens when my levels are out of wack.

When my levels were first brought under controle they stayed good for quite a while but then they went low and had to be adjusted. They've been adjusted 2 and I don't think my levels are good now.

I find I feel the best when my levels stay around 2. No problem with the questions. Hope you get your levels under controle and can manage your weight. I really hate having extra weight on.

Take Care!

Kardie

Sounds like a not so awesome rollercoaster.. I have leg pain occ, feels heavy and sometimes numb. And my feet are sore all the time too. I love being barefoot, but since the pain i have to wear shoes or slippers all the time. (supposedly symptoms include muscle pain and joint pain, which makes sense) I hope I can get this weight thing under control and be myself again Smile

Malorie,

I'm interested to hear that you have sore feet too. Honestly, I feel like I've been standing all day. I wake at night with them just aching and tingling but sometimes the sensation disapears shortly after it wakes me. Good luck with the wieght thing, I'm working on it too

I am also going through these same issues of just being diagnosed and high weight gain, and I am also very short. I have not lost any weight either and I have been on lev., too. I agree this is 'very' agitating.

Malorie,

I have read and also talked to my doctor that the reason people have a hard time losing weight even when they are on medication is because they get more hungry and eat more. The key is to find a healthy diet plan and stick to it. I think that eating 1200 to 1400 calories a day plus exercising will help you lose weight. You do not have to do extreme work outs either. Exercise such as incline walking on a treadmill for 20 minutes + 5 minutes cool down (at a reasonable pace . . not slow) and some strength exercises work great. What I do is 20 minutes cardio and then I do 30 day shred dvd video by jillian michaels. I have noticed results. I also eat yogurt and drink Kefir instead of milk. These are natural forms of calcium and they help aid in weight loss. I would stay away from calcium supplements as they actually don't aid in weight loss at all. A study was done by a university (im sorry i forgot which) but natural sources of calcium actually helped people lose weight. So eat more low fat yogurt, drink skim or low fat milk and Kefir. Please be patient in the weight loss process and don't expect rapid results right away. 1-2 lbs a week is a healthy weight loss. Set a goal and work towards it. Also, drinking 8 cups of water a day. Helps you stay fuller and sometimes cut out those unwanted cravings. Sorry I don't mean to give you a lesson or anything, I just know how you feel and trying to be a little helpful. =]

Ole15, thanks for the response. Since im breastfeeding, I can not restrict my caloric intake. I dont have much of an appetite, so Im not over eating. In fact i should probably eat more, but smaller portions. I dont eat after 8, drink tons of water. Walk, and play soccer.... I believe i also have a progesterone/estrogen imbalance working against me. I dont drink milk, im lactose intolerant... Have you lost weight with this regimen? If so how much and after how long. Thanks

My doctor told me, that when my feet ache and hurt, to soak my feet in epsom salt and to eat a lot of bananas to keep the magnesium up in the body.
