I am a wife of a man not currently taking his medication consistently. He is on synthroid. I have just now been checking since Feb. 28 and he has missed his dose about 44 times ( four almost five months on average of missing 9-10 doses each month). He is not acting normal. We are now having marital difficulties that started at teh end of April. I am worried tha tmost of the problelms we are haveing are stemming from his not taking his synthroid correctly. Can make any suggestions?

Yes for now on you handle his medication to make sure he takes it every day. And stay with him to make sure he swallows it. So sorry you are having these problems. With out the med people can become very irritated. Hope he gets well soon. Keep us updated.

Is there any way you could get him to come here and vent? I am one that hates taking any medication. Can you believe I used to only take half an aspirin or advil when I had a headhache. I actually called a friend in the medical field when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I was hoping there was some way not to take meds. She said don't mess around with this, you could die young. Wow, that straightened me out. I had a long (l yr. 3 months)road before I finally got stablized. Please get him to try this forum. We are all different, and I am sure someone here can help.

I'm afraid that's true.

At my early treatment, I have issues with my husband. He couldn't understand why I'm tired all the time, etc, etc, etc.

Pls be with him. Feeling withdrawn is among my major syndrome, back then.

I think it is very likely that the issues are coming from him not taking his meds properly. I would often forget things, I couldn't get up, I had no motivation to do anything and it took all I had to make sure my Daughter was taken care of properly. This was difficult and took a long time to resolve as my meds went up step by step. Is he just forgetting to take his meds? Or is he intentionally not taking them. He will get very sick if he doesn't take them.
