I leave mine out for about 15 minutes to just take the chill off. Pinching hurts. It always burns though about a minute after the injection and lasts a few minutes.

I leave mine out for up to an hour. My nurse told me it was probably ok at room temp, no higher, for like 2 hours. I do mine in the upper outside corner of the top of my leg and it seems to be less painful than anywhere else on my legs. I haven't found the guts to do it in my stomach, feel like i have enough pain there already. I usually ice for about 30 min before. I just had shot number 8 and this has been the best so far, still stings and burns really bad when it goes in but stinging is gone within a minute. The first 4 stung for almost 30 min after.
Diagnosed with Crohn's Disease Sept. 2006

Appendix, last 7 in. of small intestine and first 6 in. of large intestine removed upon diagnosis

Allergic to Pentasa, Lialda, and mercatopurine.

Scheduled to start Humira within a few weeks after qualifying for financial assistance.

I cry sometimes too... I think I cry because the whole thing is just scary. Crohns is scary. Pain is scary. Blood is scary. The medications we take DEFINITELY scary. Tests are scary. Hospitals are yucky... Dr. Office waiting rooms are icky.

And.... I try and smile through all of it...

Mine just stings for a minute or so....I dunno, in the last 3 years i have been poked and prodded so much, needles and shots don't really bother me anymore. If the alternative is living on the toilet with horrible cramps all day, then I pick the shot Smile

Oh girl me too. My husband was complaining the other day about having to get a blood test to check his thyroid. He's had to have one every three months. After he said it, he realized I was looking at him with a blank "dog hearing a high pitched noise" expression and said... uhh... I just laughed...

I get mine out of fridge about an hour before giving it and I pinch the skin a bit. Getting to be a 'pro' at it.
