Hello,

I have been recently diagnosed with Genital Warts. I used a topical cream to git rid of them and they have been gone for about a month now. I feel like I understand HPV and how it works etc. My question is about telling my future dating partners that I have HPV. I will tell them all, that is not the issue. HOW do I tell them and will they be freaked out! I am not planning on telling them until we are talking about sex. By this time they will like me enough to stay hopefully. What have other people done in their self-disclosure talks?

I'm not sure I'm in the exact same situation as you, considering I was in a serious relationship when I found out, I still am, but telling him was extremely hard. He knew I had to go to the doctor, and he asked what was wrong and I told him. He wound up doing research on it for me so that I woundn't be as scared.

Thanks for the reply. I kind of with that I was in your situation. I am totally freaked to tell my future partners b/c they might not want to continue to date me. You are very lucky to have a caring partner. I am praying for that for myself.

I'm not sure what your religion is chloetwist, but I will be praying for you as well, you just have to give it some time.

Hi Honey,

I am in a committed relationship now, but in the past was very up-front about it all. Like you, I waited until we were talking of sex. Its not exactly something I would bring up on a first date! I think you will find that any person worthy of you will be very understanding. Maybe you have the upper hand, you can test a person this way. You do not want to be with someone that isn't caring, understanding, and sympathetic. DO NOT feel dirty or alone...One thing you need to realize is that there are many different strains of HPV and somewhere around *80%* of the population has some form or another. THATS HUGE!

I hope that the more we all talk openly about this, maybe we can stop it altogether!

Good luck,
