MDJunction to me

aTinaL"To me, Mdjunction comes down to motivation. The support and information I have found here motivated me to take a very proactive stance regarding my illness. This led me to find medication and doctors that are giving me my life back.
More important than even the motivation, though, is the friendship I have found at MDJ. I have made some of the best friends of my entire life right here in this group. Even though most of us have never met, it feels as if we have known each other for years.
If Angels walk among us, and I believe that they do, most of them are here at MDJ.

I think my high school sweetheart would dissagree with not worrying about HPV. She has cervicle cancer from this horrible virus. She got it from an unfaithful husband. Her body is not fighting it off after two years of treatment. The cancer was removed thankfully. Now after 25 years we are back to talking and getting reaquainted. Before last week I had never heard of this HPV, she wanted me to know before there would be any sexual contact between us. The strain she has causes cancer and not warts. How concerned should I be about this?

Thank you so much for posting this. It's given me some hope about this darn infection. I'm young, only 22 and I've always had abnormal pap results but the dr would make up an excuse saying my blood sugar was low, or I had intercourse too close to the pap date. About 1 year ago I switched drs, and I was diagnosed with HPV (who knows how long I had REALLY had it) they told me it was a level 3?? So 6 months later I had another pap, no surprise it was abnormal. They took a biopsy a few days later. Said there was mild displaysia?? Anyways 3 more months went by and I just recently had another follow up pap. Im eager to see if the infection is gone, my heart is going to break if I still have HPV!

I went to the gyno to get on birth control and they did tests to see if I had anything and they found out that I have HPV. They said I had abnormal cells & I believe that I had one of the strands that caused cancer. I'm not sure I don't remember. Should I be worried? I then have this mucus like discharge that has appeared is that from HPV? I then had a pap smear test done and then I think they said they froze off warts... I'm not really understanding the virus..... more info.
