Dear Kathy, I want to post an open letter to you on the dual diagnosis forum. Your recent discussions on the matter of hypnosis remind me that, in the advanced stage of recovery, I had indeed practiced self-hypnosis to change some of my beliefs, reactions, and general behavior. When I realized that I had employed your suggestions, I also realize that I had not merely "jumped into" the process you describe. I can see rather that several stages of psychic change had to take place before I could effectively change my beliefs and other aspects of my nature. I have, however, emailed you the post, so that you may respond before I post it. Since I am not an expert in your field, I do not want to broadcast any misperceptions to others. I do, however, want your help to acquaint others who are dual diagnosed with your suggestion as to how your method may apply to them in the progress of their recovery. Thanks, Kathy!
