Jenny: I answered this question a long time ago and didn't realize that the quick reply didn't get posted. sorry!! there are numerous places to study hypnosis. A great beginner's book is called "The Power of Your Subconscious MInd" by Dr. Joseph Murphy. (over a million copies in print, it's been around since 1963. The most comprehensive book I know of is "McGill's Hypnotherapy Encyclopedia" by Ormond McGill, with Shelley Stockwell (over 800 pages.) I would NOT attempt to work on "clients" unless I had been through a certification program. They come in all sizes and shapes. What you should look for is an extensive course, with someone you resonate with. Some courses are only a weekend. trust me!!! you are NOT going to know how to effectively hypnotize someone in 3 days. Some programs require you to have a medical progam, totally unnecessary. Very few programs require more than 100 hours of training. I think it is necessary, so my program is 250 hours. The more you study the more competent you will be.

If you just want to learn it for your own purposes, look at your local community education programs. They will be inexpensive and most will be 4-6 weeks long. We teach a 4-week course here that is very successful. Hope this helps. km
