Can hypnosis cure physical diseases, or just alleviate and control the symptoms, as suggested by HypnonurseWendy in a previous topic?

Also, can hypnosis treat/improve psychological conditions, such as phobias, depression, or even more serious illnesses (schizophrenia, bipolar, paranoia etc.)?

Still for Nurse Wendy: what is the difference between a hypnotherapist and a hypnosis nurse? Can you, as a nurse, fully hypnotise people?

Thanks. This is all interesting for me, very intriguing. Lots to explore.

Hi Ami, Each state has specifie regulations regarding the title use of how one describes one self as a hypnotist. I'm from NY and we as hypnotists cannot use the term hypnotherapist unless you are a licensed therapist which I am not. I am a licensed registerd nurse and certified consulting hypotist. And yes I can hypnotize people, I received by certification through the National Guild of Hypnotists. Hope this answered all your questions. Wendy

It sure did, but I've got more Smile.

Thanks for taking the time to clarify this for me, Wendy.

What are the limitations of hypnosis? More to the point, what can hypnosis do/improve/cure, in terms of physical and psychological illnesses?

Is it true that under hypnosis you say the truth and nothing but the truth? Can hypnosis be used in forensics to get confessions from offenders? If not (cause I guess not...), why not? Because it's not applicable, or because it would be immoral and unethical?

Thanks again, and sorry if my questions seem a bit dumb. I know very little about this, and I'm trying to educated myself as much as I can. It seems fascinating.

Hi Ami, Hypnosis can assist one in handling their symptoms in regard to a medical condition, such as the example that I told regarding my Mom and her chronic pain. One can lie under hypnois, that's why many states do not accept hypnotic refreshed memory testimony. The information taken during a forensic session is always corroborated with facts from other sources. Again I invite all to go to my website www.hypnonurse.com and go to the forensics page and educate yourself with the examples that I refer to.

Hope this helps. All the best, Wendy
