Hi everyone,

As you know I love everything alternative. But I don't really get involved with the religious stuff. I just feel that I want to know exactly what I'm dealing with, and practices that reflect some ancient idol worship or the like.... well it's unknown territory and I certainly don't understand what all the religions out there are about, or what they encourage spiritually. So blah, all that to say....

I have a friend who is coming over next week to do reiki on my me. Now she says that the version she knows has no religious content or connection in it. But I was just talking to my mom and from her research all reiki is connected to the original religion it came out of. Every movement you do with it has a spiritual meaning.

Does anyone have extensive experience with this? I would really like to know.

Thanks

Personally, I had extremely, extremely bad experiences with Reiki, I will say it this way... do not touch it, its not what its supposed to be.

Hi Recoil,

What was your experience and why was it that bad? I'm asking since I don't know a lot of people who had bad experiences with Reiki...

Where you expectations different from what you got?

It's a somewhat sensitive issue for me and I do not want to describe this in detail, but let's say that there is the opinion that Reiki is in reality some kind of malignant, demonic force... and AFTER my experience with it, I have to agree with this opinion.

Here's a scary link describing experiences similiar, but much more scary than mine:

BTW: the above account might seem crazy, might seem like some kind of fantasy to you - and it would also seem like complete fairy tale to me - BEFORE my experience with Reiki - now I believe the above story fully.

Hello there! I just wanted to write a short comment here because I have the feeling leaving this post the way it is on such a negative note may not be the right way.

Firstly, let me address your undescribed bad experience and the link you posted that has a negative story with it as well. I for one have not gone through any Reiki attunements or had any sessions with a Reiki practitioner however I do believe the gift of healing resides within me. I am currently praying and searching scripture for verification if I should or should not go through with such attunements. I want to address the issue of demonic attack you experienced with your reiki session in a few sentences.

Simply stated, my gut feeling about your experience is that you had a practitioner who had demonic influence in their life. You opened your heart to recieving what they had to offer and there was a supernatural transaction which took place. I can see this as a theme of what happened to you as well as the related story you had a link to. In the related story can you not sense the practitoners SELFishness getting in the way of true Spirit-wrought works?

I for one, as a born again Christian, would have my focus upon Christ, his love, atonement, and the work he does to bring back the spirit within us to life as a safety net. I would reccomend that you read "The Spiritual Man" - by Watchman Nee. He gives great detail and breaks down information so it is easier to digest. Sometimes when studying the Old Testament and New Testament in english translations we sometimes get in a habit of reading over things rhetorically and think that soul & spirit are the same thing. When people talk, sometimes they speak about soul, spirit, or heart interchangeably but they are very specific and seperate things. In the fallen nature of man, the flesh has dominion over the soul and the spirit has not recieved quickening by the Spirit - the life of Christ. If we kill our flesh by not living in the desires of the , we walk in the spirit. The flesh has lusts (desires) that are contrary to the Spirit and the spirit even lusts (has desires) that are contrary to the flesh.

If anyone is interested I really recommend that book. It talks about many good things and has helped me make sense out of supernatural encounters I've had when I was heavily enntrenched in sin in my life.

So basically, the vessel that was trying to bring healing to you was not a purified vessel. They attracted demonic activity to the session, I speculate, because of sin or strongholds in their own life. And if you are not hedged about with protection from the Father of Lights...I'm sorry to say you experienced whatever they opened the door to. Rei - universal - ki energy. So far I have concluded that it may be the Father's will and good intention in pure-hearted vessels to work through this way and break through the strongholds of sectarianism (sects/division is a work of the flesh) in dogmas and doctrines that in some circles that say ALL supernatural is from the devil and the power works of the Holy Spirit in the days of the Apostles are not meant for today. I disagree with this concept and if by the indwelling Spirit in a believer, if God draws a person who pureheartedly seeks Reiki as a way to reach lost sheep and Glorify Christ Jesus as an expression of the Gift of the Spirit - healing - then so be it. I shall not judge so I shall not be condemned on this. However...judging and discernment are two different things

Love and good thoughts to you all!

Sincerely,

Hayden

Being fully attuned, I also would disagree that all Reiki Masters are like that. You unfortunately got in touch with a wanna be, or someone who let other things come between them and their teachings. ie. As a saved Christian can go out and commit murder, there is nothing that binds them from doing it just because they are 'saved', likewise, just because someone may have gone through Reiki Courses, etc doesn't mean they haven't side tracked themself somewhere, after all, they are still human. And no, there are no idols. The mysterious "hand movements" are no mystery, they simply work the flow of energy and healing.

I wish tons of love and hugs!

Oh, and btw, there is no such thing as Warlocks, that was a 'name' made up for t.v. Witches are witches whether male or female. (in reference to the referenced web 'story')

Here is a quote from that "story":

"He offered to attune me to reiki. The morning of the attunement, he claimed that my kundalini was rising. He started to spiral his face over me, and I felt like a dragon was awakening inside, stretching up my midline; and like my arms were becoming wings. (Now, I question what that "dragon" was.) Just before the attunement began, he gave me something called "reiki water," which he claimed he had charged with reiki energy. He'd placed three crystals at the bottom. I did not yet know that crystals could have occult significance."

I'm sorry, but nothing..NOTHING in that paragraph is how a person is attuned for Reiki. I wish the above person would have given the complete website this is on.

Odd, she (the lady writing it) says she's Protestant not Catholic but the person she's writing this to tells her to live a clean CATHOLIC life from here on out. Sounds like there is more spoiled fish than just from the ex-boyfriend. I was almost expecting the read the address and where to send the "donation" to! But gosh, honestly, this sounds like some of the movies I used to go to with friends. We had an entire summer of "How scary can we view without being chicken". 2 of the girls it would have freaked out, but personally if we'd seen it, we'd have given it a 'B' rating. Sorry to make light of it, but geesh, this woman could write fiction.

OMG! I am home trying to work with kid interruptions, and read that web story too - what a story that was! I also am attuned in reiki. What a wonderful thing to be able to do for others and yourself. Maybe I am just being naive in assuming that evil is not lurking around every corner. I just would rather believe that what you put out there you are more likely to get back. I have had nothing but positive experiences so far and met some great people and made several new friends and business associates!

Hugs,

Jenna
