Today, when I was arranging my books on my library's shelves, I feel a very strong moldy smell. I take all the books out to look... and all the bottom shelf was FULL of mold, black, moist, disgusting. Half of the books are ruined, and the other half are damp and smelly. They were stuck to a wall, that's also completely moldy. I can't understand where this came from, it's an interior wall, no moisture, everything was clean and dry. Well, aparently not, but I still have no idea how and why this happened.

I've spent hours trying to save the affected books, wiping, drying them. I've inhaled a great deal of mold spores, I still feel it in my nostrils now.

In brief, I'd like to know if being exposed to mold for long, and so close to it, can cause any health problems, now or in the future.

Also, I've heard that moldy cheeses (like Camembert, Roquefort and such) can eventually cause cancer. Is that so?

I don't know about moldy cheeses, but yes certain kinds of mold can harm you. To what extent I don't know either. How did you get the mold? Do you have a humidifyer?
An it harm none, do as thou wilt
Do what you will, so long as it harms none
An it harm none, do what thou will
That it harm none, do as thou wilt
Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill, / An it harm none do what ye will.
