MDJunction to me

ThereseML"When I first came to MDJ, I was in need of peer support in dealing with issues of my childhood abuse. I was moving away from the painful issues and trying to find an uplifting group of people to help me transition to a thriver in my life. I found that here. I also found a group of peers with Fibromyalgia and found the same uplifting experience there. My computer crashed and it was a while before I found my way back, this time with issues related to Parkinson's Disease. I had tried a few other support sites before reminding myself of MDJ. On those, I never got a reply. I finally found my way back here and again found very supportive, caring and inspiring people who made me feel like I was 'back home'. Indeed I am." (ThereseML)

I have been suffering with HS for almost 20 years, but recently was given a name to what I have been dealing with for all these years. I just joined this website a few days ago. All of my flare ups are right where my thigh and groin meet in that grove. Before I would have a break out and with medicine it would clear up in a few days. In March I had a flare up and I haven't had one in about 8 months. This flare up will not go away. Currently on my third antibiotic and they burst and came back and are constantly draining. I have been taking very hot baths and using tea tree oil. I am going to this all natural store tomorrow that I have heard good things about to get some suggestions from them. I am a single mom of a special needs 12 year old boy and I can't let this affect my life even though it already has, today even though it's beautiful and 80 degrees out I am sitting in the house due to drainage. Few of my friends know but what can they do but listen to me cry and complain. I know in no way I am dealing with some of the others suffering from this and my heart goes out to you. If you feels better knowing they are people out there knowing what I am going through. It I feel anything works for me at the natural store I will keep you posted.Smile

cburk71 welcome to the group. Smile You are having a rough time right now, and I feel so badly for you. and taking care of a special needs child makes it even more difficult, I'm sure.

I also have hs right along the panty line. It sounds as if you are moving from stage1 into stage 2 now, or maybe late stage2 if you already have the tunneling. I'm not sure, and am amazed you have had such long remissions between flares for so many years.

Have you seen a dermatologist? They usually know more about HS than regular md's

There are lots of tips on home remedies as well as medical treatments in the Medicine and Treatment forum, so hope you hang out in there sometime and check it out. Also good info in the Articles forum.

Just happy you are here, and I know from my own experience after finding MDJ, I am so much more able to deal with the whole thing, now that I have others to talk to who actually understand what the heck I'm talking about. Tongue

Make yoursef to home, and don't hesitate to ask questions or jump in any discussion with your own thoughts. Twenty years of experience, I know you have wisdom to share!

Thank you for the welcome. I have a wonderful dermatologist that has been seeing me for 10 years. She never said HS cause every time I had a breakout with medicine it would completely heal. It seems this last one won't, I have on both sides one side is now a sinus tract and the other side is just a constant flare up that bursts and within 2 or 3 days starts it formation again. I saw on your profile that you are in an autism group. My son is a high functioning autistic child. Thank you for reaching out to me.

cburk71, Welcome to the group. My hs started in the same place. For years, I would use tea trea oil and they would temporarily go away and then come back. I went to doctors and gynocologists, and the even did a biopsy and could not figure out what it was. Then I went to urgent care for another reason, but showed the urgent care doctor, and he knew right away. It is an embarassing place to have so much pain. I feel for you being a single mom caring for a son who has special needs. I am the main support for myself, my husband, and my grandaughter who lives with us. Just the stress of work, and caring for the needs of others alone is enough without adding hs to the mix. Just want to let you know that you are in my prayers and I hope you find something that helps to ease the pain and bring on another remission.

Hi, cburk71 I have HS in the same place and I know it can be embarrassing and frustrating! I hate to wear a swim suite because my scars are so big. I know this might sound a touch weird but I've found when mine are draining and I want to go out in public. I use a large peice of guaze and cover the area which can be tricky because of the location. That way it can drain and still get air. I also have invested in a bunch of cotton lose fitting pants the kind with draw strings for when I'm having bad flair ups. What I do is cover the. Area with gauze and then go commando under the cotton pants that way the area gets lots of air and is able to drain with making a stain.

Also. I agree it sounds like you might be in stage two. I would talk to a dermatologist. When ever I see a new doctor about my HS I make sure to tell them what it is and insist that, that is what it is. Most try and tell me have something else or have never heard of it. With that being said I had to have surgery to drain the tunneling. I know surgery sounds scary but it was an out patient surgery and I was home the same day. And after a couple of days I felt alot better! I was also able to walk around and do most of my daily activities with little or no pain while the stitches where healing. Sitting was actually the worst part lol I had to use a dounut! Anyway I just wanted you to know that your not alone!

Thank you, already looking into the donut since I work in a office and sit all day. Funny about the commando I have been doing that this weekend and its the only relief I have gotten (I am one of those people who has to always wear underwear LOL). Ran some errands and of course put on underwear and shorts and halfway through my errands it was irritated. I went to an all natural store today and I am trying olive leaf oil and turmeric with a probiotic formula. The woman there was incredible, I told her what I was diagnosed with and she had never heard of it and immediately looked online and gave me a few suggestions. I figure I have nothing to lose and some of the things I had picked up she said don't over do it and said try above and see what happens. She was going to look into a cleanse for lymph nodes and let me know.
