Welcome Dustoff. ) Sorry to hear about your daughter. Most of us have been through the "finding the right dr." mill so know your frustration. Michelle gave you good advice, and dermatologists seem to have the best handle on HS, though not all have the same degree of knowledge and understanding. If the foundation doesn't list one in your area, the next best thing is to just start with the A's and call, ask questions until you find one who has experience treating HS. My own pcp didn't know much about it , but I have educated him over the yrs. about it, and he started doing his own research. Sometimes it's the only way to ever get one to understand what we go through. He sent me to the only dermy in the town I have to go to with drs., and he was a total pompous a$$, and no help at all. So back to the drawing board . That's when I realized I would have to try to make my dr. learn more. In the meantime, does your daughter do any self-help remedies on her own? Most of us do that and have learned from each other some things that help immensely. If you'd like more details on that , feel free to PM me any time and I will answer asap. You didn't say how old your daughter is, but if she's old enough in your judgment, she will be so very welcome to join and post too. All the best to you and your daughter and hope this has been of some help. Karen Post edited by: oregonnative, at: 08/06/2010 08:45 AM Shoot for the moon...if you miss it, reach out and grab a star.
