Hi All,

I have a friend who suffers horribly from HS and I was wondering if smoking pot affects the disease? He smokes it almost daily and very often has flare ups and has to miss 1 or 2 days of work per week. He also smokes cigs, which I know are bad for him.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, Lazytom, welcome, I can't say that smoking pot or cigarettes has any effect on the HS, some doctors believe that there is some kinda connection, any reason why he is smoking the pot?

I think he's smoking it to ease the pain? He has several other mental disorders that I don't feel comfortable mentioning, but he says it helps comfort him when he smokes it.

I'm just worried that he's gonna lose his job. He's only part time but he misses one or two days a week and I wonder how much of it is from the HS and how much of it is due to the pot smoking.

Hey lazytom, I understand that you are not comfortable with talking about the mental issues, I am a bipolar myself, is he addressing the other problems? I know a person that uses pot for medical relief, it's the only thing that helps him, he has both the HS and another illness that is basically eating him inside out.. pot is the only thing that helps, being part time and smoking pot isn't a good mix for keeping a job, most companies have anti-drug policy's and should he ever get hurt on the job, testing is one of the first things they will do,

If he is not getting treatment for the mental illnesses, then he needs to get into see a doctor about them, while treating them is not going to make the HS go away, it's going to help to ease dealing with it.

I am just a pm away if you would like to talk off the group, you will see a button just under my picture that says send a pm, that is a private message, and will come to me, and only me, no one else can see what you have sent, and I don't talk..lol.. if you send a hug to someone, it's open for all to see.
