I have had HS for ten years but never had a sore like this one. It started out the size of a pinhole, and in the past week it has grown in size. It is now a little bigger then a pencil width round wise. It was leaking the normal fluids, but today has started bleeding, almost black blood. Its under my breast right in the crease and it hurts so much. I don't have dermatologist right now for it and I don't have any insurance atm either. What should I do? I am scared to go to the hospital because I ...

We dont go through insurance here, so i dont really understand how frustrating it must be in that situation. I hope a cure is found soon. Until then I reckon this is a fantastic place where I feel I can be totally honest without the usual shame that accompanies hs.

Gwenda your dermo sounds ignorant to hs. Isnt it awful that we know more about the condition than the experts?! I have lived alongside this condition for 16 years and have only recently been diagnosed, and that was only when ...

Ditto dislike :(
I wonder if it is the change of weather or hearing about a horrific disaster like OK that triggers a sad stress reaction that our bodies react to - because I am not blowing my diet at all and the stress at work has been low, but like you guyes the healing leprochan has definately been pissed off.

Michele,

I know how you feel. I was size 7 and thinner than I ever was and I used to work out at the gym for 3-4 hours 4 times a week and was in excellent shape when my hs journey began. I used to think that I was just prone to cysts or ingrown hairs, but when they turned to stage 2 and 3 I was thin and in excellent shape. Then because of the ones on my thighs and groin, the friction made them worse, so that is when I had to stop my long work outs and the weight just poured on (depression ...

Hello Orly welcome to our family! :P
I also, have never heard of amyloids until now... but I do know other sufferers who have other ailments/diseases as well as HS. Like Gwenda said, Chron's is common is HS sufferers. There are several others but I cannot think of them off the top of my head. I too, would love to hear more about you! :silly: Such as your age, current living location (we have members ALL over the world!) and if you have found any homeopathic remedies or things that are succes...

I am also not sure what you mean by stating homeopathy.
We have suggested several homeopathic options, but this term widely describes a lot of items: topical, oral substances, etc.
Please explain (as Gwenda stated) what you were doing for that month and why you were afraid of infections. HS itself (having open draining lesions) are not infections. However, they can quickly turn into one. In the last decade, I have only ever had one alien/area become infected that required an antibiotic to ...

Just as Karen explained, physicians believe there can be 2 different genes of HS and perhaps even 3!?
I assume that one of those has a genetic link, leading to a predisposition of inheriting this awful disease, but then again the only gene may just be a fluke. I personally do not have a single person on either side of my family with anything remotely similar to HS. I pray this is good news because I always fear passing this onto my daughter. But, there are also folks who have HS, their granny...

I think that dating with HS is one of our recent discussions that so many people question. The insecurity embarrassment alone are enough to keep one trapped indoors for life to become the lady, sitting on her couch in a mumu with her dozen cats eating sticks of butter. DON'T DO IT! :-O :-D
As I have said before, I agree that disclosing the HS information may not be first date material. But, if someone is really into you- then it should not matter. You just have to explain first (because ...

Mia, I understand your fear of the weather humidity. It's absolutely terrible that you are allergic to direct sunlight. Boo! :( I know that I also dread the weather because here in Oklahoma, USA is already the high-80 degrees with like 90% humidity... so if I am suffering now-it's going to be dreadful when our summer reaches 115-120 degrees + humidity!? I always carry ice packs around with me and I love the idea of carrying a spritz bottle to spray water on myself. It sucks because I am in a...
