I just wanted to let everyone know that things with my 19 year old daughter got really bad and have gotten now very hopeful and much better. She relapsed on heroin bad - caught stealing thousands of dollars from her father and other people - ruining her own credit with bad checks, and dropped out of school and now owes so much money it is almost unthinkable. But there is good news. We got her back into treatment 3 months ago and she also broke up with the boyfriend we disovered was using heroin also. She has been clean and sober. She is doing what she needs to, but it is slow and little by little I am seeing my REAL daughter, she is opening up alot and talking about her experience and feelings, she is now in counseling and finished her intensive outpatient treatment program. She is saying she finally can FEEL again, and I am just so hopeful and thankful for everyones support when I first posted her not long ago. I can't say she's home free - but she is on her way and as she says she just got SICK of it and sick of being sick. So there is hope for our kids, I was not hopeful just 3 months ago and feeling helpless, and now I do have some hope for a bright future with a healthy daughter.

There is always hope. Thanks for sharing your good news. It carries those of us that are still struggling with our own addicted love ones. It is just as important to share the good times as the bad. I'm happy for you and for your daughter. We'll pray she keeps moving forward! Tracy

That is really good that she is opening up and talking about it as that is the first stage. I was in denial for so long until one day it hit me, that this was not a normal way of life. It's good that she has broke up with her boyfriend as that will make her want to do it less or if he was doing it she might want to do it aswell. It's great that she has got to that point where she is sick of the life she is leading, it sounds like she is truly on her way to recovery.

I will be thinking about you and hoping that your daughter is doing well.

Love Sinead x
