Folks, since my last forum on our family status on our oldest daughter finding out possible she had contracted HCV-C, from her blood work when she was adimited to the hospital and came home with the news, and even from the doctor who called her to inform her all about it.

Which at that time the outlook was not sounding good. So we started reading and looking into all we can do as family and as I wrote also. And even my wifes work found out some how, and there also could if wanted to follow up on some touchy legal actions...but she did as asked.

So from with in a week or so and the follow up on her deeper blood work to find out what level she was and more info need for the doctor. And one thing we saw about this, is how even in the medical field, the subject HCV is very scary to some. I believe some times folks just are not totally informed and only react by what they hear.

And in this case it was the worker at the lab where she was getting her blood work. My daughter came out crying about how she was treated. The original worker, read the request on the lab sheet, and refused to draw the blood, and even went on to tell her they don't do that kind of blood work there. She went and got a nurse or doctor, not sure, but got some one else to draw the blood, but enough was said to her, she came out crying and treated like a plauge. I can understand some not beign informed and reaction on their part.....but in a medical field as that person working in lab/blood work, should have some up date or keep up with this kind of blood work that would come into the office. BUt its over, we did explain to her doctor about, and he was upset and furious about that, and was going to look into that.

As a parent, I felt the pain she went through when she came out, and I know some of you parents out there and even those who fall into this, has at one time or more, have been delt the same way...and felt like a piece of nothing when seeking help, and lab work, etc......So for those who have, my heart breaks and hurt along with you all.....Like I said, all one can do is stay strong and keep walking tall, and move one.....

With that said, upon the second lab work coming back, her doctor called us at night, way beyond office hours and spoke the her and us, and told us that the virus she had gotten was HCV,but not full blown. And from the time she was in the hospital and now, her body fought off what was there. And she had a negative lab work. But please understand, she did have in her body. So, that was a load lifted off all of us and her. But the doctor did say, she is going to have to come back in three months and get another lab work to be sure. He did tell us, about the pro and con that could happen in her body system. So in the mean time, she will be doing what she can via doctors follow up till then.

This also tells the work place of my wife that she is ok, and she needs to return to work ASAP. This also upset the doctor about how quick they wanted her to get tested for it.. He was concerned about who passed the news of our daughter and felt the same about her. This was not a concern of the place of work for them to tell her she can't come back till lab test was done. But I know many of you out there also have gone through this routine, like I said some times lack of information and blind action can destroy or wound those in the battle field.

But again, things did turn out for the good of all,and we all learned much in these last three weeks about HCV and everything around it. What folks do, how they react, how it affects every one. Like a pebble thrown in a pond, the ripples reach out to all sides of the pond.

We thank for the prayers and thoughts we had recieved through this, and want to thank this site for information we read into, and other folks going through the same walk, some more deeper and some living thier lives with it, and Keep, Keeping On....I salute you and my thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Like I said, we are still reading more about it, and my daughter is still working with the doctor, and in three months will see.

Thank you all again, we will not leave this forum we are still going to read and study more. GWLW

I have experienced the ignorance of the medical field. I am in the medical field right now, I work as a Certified Nurses Aide and know first hand hoe dumb people can be to the disease.
I live with Hep. C, I am not Hep. C. I do not let my disease rule my life.

I am not a Doctor of any kind, but will be of support to you and be here for you.

Live, Laugh, Learn and Love everyday.
