Hello everyone. I'm new and have a few questions, I was diagnosed with hep c a month ago. I still don't know what all the blood tests mean. or if I even need treatment. My genotype is 1a and my liver function panels are abnormal. I do have problems with fatigue and body and joint pain. Can anyone tell me what to expect. The Doctors are very nonchalont about the whole matter. Help!!!

Hi maggie welcome to the group, I am also newly DX in Feb.08.I find out what my viral load, and genotype are this week. From what

I have read genotype 1a is one of the types that have been treated well with peg/ribavirn.My liver enzymes are also high, AST, ALT, Triglycerides. I am having an abdominal ultrasound next week to map the liver for a liver biopsy. I will let you know whats going on.

Hi Dreux,

I go today to go over all my lab work. I must say I am very nervous. I worry because I had Pancreatitis last year that put me in the hospital for 2 1/2 mos. I still have not fully recovered and I have had my gall bladder removed. I am hoping the treatment will not bring on my pancreatitis. I don't think I can handle that. It is already half damaged. Thank you for responding and I hope hope everything goes well for you. Let me know what happens anf I'll do the same.

Hi missy,

welcome. I too am new to this and it has helped just knowing there are others with the same problem. I will be going through treatment starting the 8th of july. How are you doing? Do you know anything yet? Keep in touch, someone always has an answer. Good luck

Maggie
