My son Ben is almost 12 weeks old.. He has Hemophilia type A. It was quite a surprise since we have no family history of it. I would love to talk to anyone who could be supportive. I am 25 and my hubby is 23. He is active duty army and Im a nurse (who is now a stay at home mom). We are currently stationed in Louisiana but will be going to GA soon.

Hi,

My name is JoAnne my son Peyton James {PJ} is 14 months old with severe Hemophilia A. He is on prophy now 2x a week Prophy just means he get's factor 8 2x a week if he has a bleed or not.

My son is starting to walk now and it worries us so much but we have all his clotes padded and he wears a helmet. My brother who is 24 also has hemophilia and so did my 2 uncles but they both died. About 40 years ago they did not have factor so my Uncle was 3 and he hit is head in a play ground and they could not stop the bleeding and my Uncle died from HIV he got from the blood. They did NOT check the blood.

I am so greatful that we have factor. Do you have factor in your house? We carry it with us all the time. Do you have amicar? We keep that on us all the time to that is for a GI,MOUTH OR NOSE BLEED.

I am a stay at home mom now too cause after I had PJ I just could not leave him. I worked in a hospital for 6 years as a phelebotmist. We started to infuse PJ at homenow but he has very bad veins.

Do you guys go to an HTC {Hemophilia Treatment Center} They are the best thing for them.
