Hi, I'm new here and wanted to ask a question. My hearing is not so good, but I can hear without aids of any sort. My problem is when I'm watching tv and there is any talk or other sound in the room or for that matter in the next room, I miss everything being said on the tv. Everything from the tv to anything being said by someone becomes all messed up and garbled to the point I have to mute the tv and ask what was said, or run the dvd back and listen to it again. This becomes very hard to deal with. Anyone here have or heard of this type of problem? Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Sounds like my problem. Background noise is a problem. Everything is mumbled. It's all part of the hearing loss. I use closed captioning all the time on our t.v. My husband hates it, because it "distracts" him. I tell him he can turn it on, or I can ask him to repeat the conversationWink

Sometimes you can find movies at the theater that have open captions. Yes, you can read the dialogue at the movie theater. Only a very few places have this.

Sign language helps, but the family needs to learn it, and though I know some, they don't see the point in it. Still working on this one currently.

Good luck.

Do the best you can with what you've got.
