MDJunction to me

peasha"This has been one of the most supportive places I have ever been. I found MDJ by mistaking looking for drs to help me with my many health issues and since that day over a year ago I have found a tight nit little family that keeps me going when the times are tough and offers me a place of retreat to share my successes and failures with others. I get to see the humor and seriousness of what I experience as well as the resources to learn about my health conditions. Thanks MDJ" (peasha)

Hi!

I am new to this site and this group! Im Kath, im a single mother of 3 kids under 7 yrs of age. I have had Thyroid Cancer, I have a lot of muscle and joint pain and I am fairly underweight!

I dont need to loose wieght. And Im not too concerned about putting it on. What I am looking to do is change how I FEEL. People look at me and think I must be fit and healthy cause im slim. Not so. I am tired, lack motivation, energy, I eat what i want when i want-I dont have a palate for the healthy foods! And if im not hungry(which i often am not) will just skip the meal or have a bowl of cereal.

What I want is to change. What I need is friends who wanna support me, help keep each other accountable, exchange ideas and all that!

I dont wanna miss out on the great years of life i have ahead of me cause Im too tired or just unfit!

Anyone interested in joining me on the journey to health?

Kath, what an interesting proposition! I am coming to it from the opposite end...weight to lose. BUT, I also could use some accountability. Generally my diet is very healthy but then I slip out evry few months and wham...what am I eating? anything and everything.

Sounds like you need to get into healthy eating to improve your overall outlook and I have the same goal for different reasons.

This could be a really cool challenge. Any thoughts on how to proceed?

Hey guys I just joined but Vee the prednisone is probably one of the things that is causing the excessive appetite. I would not wean on your own though, if you don't want to speak with your doctor, call a pharmacist and tell them what else you are taking and they will provide a schedule for you to wean. I know people do it all the time, but it's safter slowly doing it as opposed to cold turkey!

Kath, if you're still around I'm up for accountability and change!

Have a great day!

so, where are we all on this one? I'm in, people and ready to start today? Anyone still around?

I found a nice crockpot recipe. Middle Eastern Lamb Stew. yumyum. Can't wait to dip into this one w/rice on the side. More meat than I want but with a teenager, it's okay once in a while, I think.

Tomorrow we'll try making grape leaves.

So who's where? Laughing

Hey Sharone,

I think it's just us. Oh well, I like hanging out with you anyway!

Grape leaves huh, well I think its leftovers for us, my daughter her homemade spaghetti and meatsauce, me bean soup that is DELICIOUS! I bet I CANNOT duplicate the taste since I threw everything in it but the kitchen sink!

Congrats on the Lamb Stew, that vegetarian chili is good too~!

Smile I like hanging out with you, too! I'm still working my way with tummy upset but I'm hopeful. Yes, the lamb stew recipe came from Eating Well online. yum. wow. We never eat lamb, quite honestly, but, he's been so down in the dumps that I thought I'd try some new things to wake up some senses. We'll see. He hates stewed tomatoes.

Okay...so this is where I'm starting. I'm eating lite and eating nutritious and walking daily...not today, tho. Today I'm going to crawl under a blanket and just crash for a while. Just want to be cozy at home.
