Hi - I am new to this group and am fairly confused and/or naive re whether getting out of my Medicare Advantage Plan (i.e., HMO) and onto a Medicare plus suppplement or at least a Point of Service (POS)plan would give me better health coverage. Although, I know that Medicare plus a supp or even a POS will be more costly - I do have major chronic illnesses and am under the impression that I'd get better health care (since I'd be paying more)by getting off my HMO. What I've heard is that doctors are limited in what they tests etc. they can order under an HMO.

Could anyone shed some light on this? Thx in advance... .
