Hi I recently broke my talus bone badly. It was broke in half, and what they could find of it was put back together with 2 screws. I also have a 6 in. titanium bar from ankle bone up small bone in leg. They have been talking about fusion, and I am afraid it will leave me a complete cripple. It has totally devastated me financially, and emotionally too. I was an avid horsewoman, and very active. I am walking now, but with pain, and a cane most of the time. I have half way twisted twice now on the rough rocky uneven Ozarks ground, and I also have bad knee from past injuries and they are starting to bother me again naturally since I've had to use them more to compensate for the ankle. I need to chat with people who have had fusion, ankle replacement and amputation. I would seriously consider amputation if it would allow me to be more mobile than the fusion but told that most doctors feel it's unethical.
